In The Sims 4, each family, or dynasty, has unique beliefs and goals. Sims within a dynasty gain Prestige by living according to those ideals. As Prestige grows, players earn points to unlock special benefits and advantages for their family members.
This is a quick overview of the Prestige system in The Sims 4. The detailed guide below will fully explain dynasty Prestige and how to earn and use perk points, helping players understand everything about it.
How to Increase Prestige in The Sims 4

Dynasties define what’s important to them by choosing skills and ideals for their members to focus on. When members practice these skills and live by these ideals, the dynasty gains Prestige.
For instance, if a dynasty prioritizes Charisma, their Prestige will grow by being sociable, giving speeches, and practicing the skill โ even something as simple as talking to their reflection.
If a dynasty chooses ‘Caring’ as a core value, they’ll earn rewards for showing kindness, offering guidance, helping others, and generally being supportive. It’s best to choose careers that align with this, like doctor, lifeguard, or babysitter. However, actions like being cruel, fighting, or causing trouble will decrease their Prestige. They should also steer clear of careers focused on villainy or crime.
Even though choosing the Caring ideal encourages kindness, players won’t be penalized for being unkind to members of opposing dynasties. Sims earn Prestige by having negative interactions with rivals and positive interactions with allies.
All Prestige Perk Point Rewards in The Sims 4
As your dynasty grows in Prestige, you’ll earn Perk Points. Use these points to unlock Dynasty Perks, which provide lasting benefits to your family โ either immediately or by being inherited by future generations.
As a player, I’ve found that most perks have three levels you can unlock as you play โ and naturally, the higher the level, the better the benefit. Some perks, like Social and Success ones, give you an instant boost, which is great! But the Inheritable Trait Perks are really cool because they don’t help you right away; they make your heirs even stronger. It’s awesome seeing the next generation of your dynasty start with bigger advantages as they grow and become more powerful!
