I’ve had the privilege of observing some truly remarkable individuals throughout my time reporting on The Boys. Among them are those who have faced off against superhumans without any powers of their own and managed to come out on top. One such individual is Butcher, a man whose cunning and resourcefulness in the face of adversity are unmatched. His ability to outmaneuver even the most formidable of supes has earned him a place in my heart as a true underdog hero.

As a gamer immersed in the gritty world of “The Boys,” I understand that intelligence is crucial for survival. With power struggles and politicking intensified by superhuman abilities and corporations controlling them, it’s essential to stay informed about the shifting alliances and hidden agendas. Constantly, new plans are being hatched among various factions – some aiming to protect, others seeking destruction, and still more attempting to remain neutral in the conflict fueled by Compound V. Adapting swiftly to these changes is key to navigating this treacherous landscape.

To succeed and stay competitive in a super-powered world, it’s essential for characters to use their intelligence and cunning, more so if they lack extraordinary abilities. Maintaining power in such a realm is an achievement reserved for those with exceptionally sharp minds. In the gripping series “The Boys,” here are five characters who demonstrate exceptional intellect and resourcefulness:

5 Victoria Neuman

The Bloody Politician

The Smartest Characters in The Boys
  • Alias: The Head Popper
  • Skills: Manipulation, Political Intuition

In “The Boys,” Victoria Neuman, an influential politician portrayed by Antony Starr, rose beyond her role as a congresswoman to become Vice President-elect of the United States. Her notoriety is not solely based on her superhuman power to make people’s heads explode through manipulation of blood, but also her cunning intelligence and ability to skillfully maneuver behind the scenes. Neuman expertly played both sides – humans and supes – making her a formidable and dangerous character in the series. She masterfully deceived Hughie by pretending to be an ally for over a year before being unmasked as the infamous ‘Head Popper’.

In Season 3, Victoria successfully outmaneuvered Stan Edgar by betraying him to protect herself. This unexpected move left Edgar admiring her wit, despite his initial displeasure. Regrettably, Victoria underestimated the intelligence, impulsiveness, and power of her adversaries in Season 4, ultimately leading to her demise in the finale.

4 Frenchie

The Team Chemist

The Smartest Characters in The Boys
  • Alias: Serge
  • Skills: Chemistry, Engineering

In simpler terms, Frenchie from “The Boys” is known for his craftsmanship within the group. He first showcased his brilliance when the team was trying to eliminate Translucent. Since Translucent’s carbon meta-material skin made him hard to harm, Frenchie suggested an inside job – planting C4 explosives in his rear end. This plan led to the unfortunate demise of Translucent, making Frenchie an essential figure when it comes to creating deadly weapons or devices for taking down superhumans in the series.

In the second season’s flashback scene, we learn that Frenchie and his former gang successfully subdued the formidable supe, Behemoth, prior to joining The Boys. In the final episode of Season 4, Frenchie showcases his intellect by extracting a lethal virus from a supes’ limb and incorporating it into a bullet for taking down powerful adversaries. Unfortunately, despite this achievement, the season didn’t conclude according to his preferred outcome.

3 Billy Butcher

Leader Of The Boys

The Smartest Characters in The Boys
  • Alias: William/The Butcher
  • Skills: Tactics, Deception

I’m known for my impulsive nature and penchant for acting before thinking things through. It might come as a shock that a man like me, who prefers a good brawl over a calm discussion, would make it onto an intelligence list. However, beneath the surface of my aggression lies a cunning mind and quick-thinking ability that sets me apart from all other characters.

In battles, Butcher exhibits impressive skills in on-the-spot creativity, such as spitting blood to enhance Translucent’s visibility or employing a laser-baby to eliminate guards shielding Compound V. Despite his rough and uncouth demeanor, Butcher also possesses the ability to exert influence effectively.

Through deceit or emotional control, Butcher excels at making others share his viewpoint and join him in combating supes. His tactical and strategic abilities are impressive, enabling him to maneuver successfully even when not possessing any superpowers himself during perilous encounters with supes. In summary, Butcher’s proficiency in the art of subduing supes, which he refers to as ‘supe-spanking,’ demonstrates remarkable intelligence and guile.

2 Stan Edgar

Vought International Personified

The Smartest Characters in The Boys
  • Alias: The Big Guy
  • Skills: Leadership, Control

Stan Edgar’s claim to fame as a character would be the fact that he is one of the few people in The Boys capable of talking down to Homelander without getting his body torn apart and his face lasered. The man handles himself so well that even when the most psychotic and powerful superhero threatens him, he keeps calm enough to lecture his way out of the situation. This stoic demeanor and ability to keep a clear head to an insane degree helps him make intelligent decisions that keep him alive and make him profit.

In the third season, it’s revealed that Stan Edgar had joined Vought as an employee back in the 1980s, when their hero team went by the name Payback, predating The Seven. Over the years, he climbed the corporate ladder and became CEO, orchestrating several power-seeking maneuvers. One such move included setting Soldier Boy up for capture and subsequently replacing him with a young Homelander.

Prior to a certain point in the third season of “The Boys,” Stan Edgar held the greatest influence in their world. With just a fountain pen, he commanded all superheroes without any hassle. Despite being an aging man with no longer any corporate power supporting him following his exposure and arrest, Stan has persisted and is still present as we approach season 5 of the series. Remarkably, he was even rescued from prison.

1 Sister Sage

The Smartest Supe

The Smartest Characters in The Boys
  • Alias: The Smartest Woman On The Planet
  • Skills: Advanced Engineering, Photographic Memory

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: In Season 4, a new character named Sister Sage entered the scene, and boy, was she described as a brainiac! By the end of that season, trust me, you’ll agree that she lived up to that title. Sister Sage is an intriguing character; her intelligence and superpowers go hand in hand. She’s not just the sharpest tool in the shed, but her intellect keeps growing, enabling her to recover from a bullet wound to the head. However, there’s a catch: To experience simple pleasures like her unconventional romantic encounters with The Deep at fast-food joints, Sister Sage has to intentionally limit her own intelligence.

Sister Sage is known for her exceptional intelligence, making her a go-to person even for egocentric Homelander. Throughout the series, her brilliant strategies significantly boosted Vought’s influence. However, as the season progressed, some of her plans began to falter due to overlooked factors.

Based on my extensive experience as a dedicated fan of this intriguing series, I must express my strong belief that the unnamed character in question is a true mastermind. By the end of Season 4, her meticulous planning and foresight had resulted in an incredibly powerful team of American superheroes led by Homelander.
