It’s becoming harder to find a Steam Deck for sale. Recent reports show it’s sold out in more places than originally thought. While a few Steam Decks are still available, potential buyers should purchase one soon before they’re all gone.
The Steam Deck, released in 2022, lets PC gamers play their Steam games on the go. When it first launched, there were different versions, including some with an LCD screen that were more affordable than the OLED models. But in December 2025, Valve stopped making the LCD version worldwide, nearly four years after its initial release. As of today, all LCD Steam Decks are sold out in the US, meaning only the OLED models are available. However, since early 2026, it’s become much harder to find even the OLED Steam Deck for purchase.
The Steam Deck is Sold Out Across Europe
The Steam Deck OLED has quickly sold out worldwide, following a complete sell-out in the US. Now, the OLED model is also out of stock across the European Union, including in Poland, as well as in Canada and Japan. The older LCD Steam Deck model is completely gone from stores in the EU, Asia, and North America. There is some good news, though: the OLED is still available directly from Valve in the UK, and through Komodo in South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Komodo expects a small restock of the OLED in Japan by late February.

As of today, the Steam Deck is still unavailable for purchase in the US, though you can add it to your Steam wishlist to receive a notification when it’s restocked. Valve has explained that a shortage of RAM is the main reason for the limited supply. This RAM shortage is driven by huge demand from tech companies building AI data centers, leading to increased prices for essential components like RAM, SSDs, and graphics cards. In fact, the cost of DDR5 RAM has more than quadrupled its original price. High-end graphics cards, like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with over 12GB of memory, are now selling for over $1,000. While RAM prices have started to come down slightly in late February, a 32GB kit (2x16GB) still costs around $370 on Amazon.
The RAM Shortage Affects More Steam Devices
The Steam Deck isn’t Valve’s only challenge right now. Development of the Steam Machine, currently planned for release in early 2026, is facing delays. Valve explained that increasing costs for components like RAM and SSDs are the reason they haven’t announced a price or firm release date yet. These issues are also impacting the Steam Frame and the launch of the new Steam Controller. Some Steam users have asked Valve to release the Steam Controller sooner, as it doesn’t rely on the same components causing the current shortages.

However, right now, it’s proving difficult for people in certain areas to purchase a Steam Deck. While this issue doesn’t seem to have a quick fix, Valve will likely announce plans soon to address the high demand.
