For years, fans have argued about whether Homelander could win in a fight against Superman. Now, a special crossover comic, DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1, finally pits them against each other, bringing Superman into the world of The Boys. However, the fight itself is quite short, leaving fans of both The Boys and Superman feeling let down by the outcome.
Superman is known as one of the strongest fictional characters ever created. Because Homelander from The Boys was inspired by Superman, many viewers wondered if a fight between them would be evenly matched. However, DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1 decisively shows that the two aren’t comparable in terms of power.
Superman and Homelander Finally Fight in DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1’s Canon Crossover
The event reaches its climax in DC K.O. Boss Battle #1, where the eight tournament finalists face off against characters from different universes. Here’s what goes down: Star Sapphire battles Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Batwoman takes on Vampirella, Wonder Woman fights Red Sonja, Lex Luthor clashes with Samantha Strong, Black Lightning and Plastic Man team up against Mortal Kombat‘s Scorpion and Sub-Zero, The Joker has a surprisingly polite encounter with Annabelle from The Conjuring, and Superman goes head-to-head with Homelander.
Although these battles and characters are now officially part of the DC Universe, packing seven fights into one issue of DC K.O. Boss Battle #1 feels rushed and doesn’t allow any of the action to develop properly. Most of these encounters feel more like quick mentions than full-fledged fights, and even the highly anticipated Superman vs. Homelander showdown doesn’t deliver for fans of both Superman and The Boys. It ultimately proves to be a letdown.
Homelander Never Stood a Chance
As a huge comic book fan, when I heard about DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1, I knew deep down Homelander didn’t stand a real chance. Superman is just on another level – seriously, the stuff he does would even impress someone like Goku! Honestly, the whole Superman versus Homelander thing wasn’t about who would win, but how long Homelander could even last against the Man of Tomorrow. It was always about seeing how much of a fight he could put up, not actually winning.
Fans of The Boys might be disappointed to learn that Homelander doesn’t go down swinging. In a fight with Superman, Homelander barely lands a hit, while Superman makes him bleed on two occasions. Homelander’s only notable moment is blocking Superman’s heat vision, hinting that their powers are comparable. However, Superman quickly follows up with an uppercut, and the fight ends soon after.
It’s probably a good thing the fight ended when it did. Homelander had no chance of winning – Superman was clearly holding back to avoid a fatal blow, while Homelander was fighting with the intention to kill. Like many battles in DC K.O., this fight between Superman and Homelander is underwhelming, but it definitively proves Superman is the stronger hero.
