The much anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 presentation provided a comprehensive glimpse into the upcoming next-gen console, detailing its hardware specifications and a robust list of forthcoming games. However, while numerous enthusiasts left feeling thrilled, some, especially those fond of Nintendo’s intimate franchises, were somewhat disheartened. The main source of dissatisfaction stemmed from the omission of Animal Crossing, one of Nintendo’s most cherished and lucrative series. Since the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons five years ago, many anticipated a new installment might be unveiled during the Switch 2 presentation. This would have been fitting—New Horizons significantly boosted sales for the original Switch and continues to resonate culturally. Surprisingly, Nintendo failed to even hint at the franchise during the event, not even announcing an upgraded version of New Horizons tailored for the new system.
