The Switch 2 is Officially Nintendo’s Fastest-Selling Console

As a huge cinema and gaming fan, I was really interested to see Nintendo’s latest financial report, and it’s clear why they’re still at the top of their game! The Nintendo Switch is selling better than ever, breaking all sorts of records, and it looks like pre-orders for the Switch 2 are really picking up, especially with those attractive bundle offers. It’s fantastic to see them doing so well!

The company announced strong financial results for the year ending December 31, 2025, including net sales of $12.3 billion – nearly double the previous year’s amount. Profit reached $2.3 billion, a 51.3% increase compared to the prior year.

Hardware Sales Not Impacted By Memory Shortage – Yet

The Nintendo Switch has reached a major milestone, selling 155.37 million units and surpassing the Nintendo DS’s lifetime sales of 154.02 million.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has quickly become a hit, selling 17.37 million units since its launch in June. Nintendo attributes this success largely to popular bundles that included Mario Kart World and Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The company also notes that the Switch 2 is selling faster than any previous Nintendo console.

Despite concerns about rising memory costs potentially hurting console sales, Nintendo appears to be doing well. Earlier this year, people worried the price of the upcoming Switch 2 might go up because of tariffs and a shortage of RAM, but so far, that hasn’t happened.

For now, it seems like neither has had much of an impact on the company’s console sales.

Our financial predictions for the quarter ending in March 2026 remain the same, including our hardware sales estimates. We continue to anticipate selling 19 million Switch 2 consoles and 4 million Switch 1 consoles.

Nintendo announced some of the first games coming to the new Switch 2 this year, like Pokémon Pokopia on March 5th and Super Mario Bros. Wonder on March 26th.
