The Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle May Have Already Ended Production

If you’re hoping to get a Nintendo Switch 2 bundled with Mario Kart World for Christmas, you might have trouble. A recent internal notice from a major retailer revealed that Nintendo has stopped making this popular bundle just six months after it first came out. The standard Switch 2 console and a bundle with Pokemon Legends: Z-A are still available, but the Mario Kart World version is likely to become scarce.

When the Switch 2 launched in June, customers could buy it either on its own or bundled with Mario Kart World. The bundle cost $499, which was $50 more than the console by itself. Considering Mario Kart World normally sells for $80, the bundle actually saved customers $30 compared to buying both items separately. However, many fans hoping for a physical copy of the game were frustrated to find that US bundles included a scratch-off code for a digital download of Mario Kart World from the Nintendo eShop, redeemable after setting up the console.

Shoppers Should Not Wait To Buy The Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle

Even with the holiday shopping rush, a popular Nintendo Switch 2 package will soon be hard to find. A leaked GameStop memo, shared on X by Nintendeal, reveals Nintendo is discontinuing the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle. Future shipments will only include the standard $449 console. While the Mario Kart World bundle has been available for six months, the Pokemon Legends: Z-A bundle is still available in limited amounts at some stores. Luckily, shoppers can still find the Mario Kart World bundle at Best Buy for $449.99, effectively getting the Mario Kart World game for free with the console.

If you’re thinking about buying a Switch 2 at its current price, you should act fast. A shortage of RAM is causing the prices of computer parts and consoles to increase, and this trend is expected to continue in 2026 and beyond. Because the cost of DDR5 RAM has recently jumped significantly, Nintendo might have to raise the price of the Switch 2 to cover these increased component costs. That means the current $449 price probably won’t last. While Nintendo hasn’t officially announced any price changes, they did raise the price of the original Switch from $299 to $339 in August 2025, citing tariffs as the reason.

The Mario Kart World Bundle Could Still Return

I’m still holding out hope for a Mario Kart World bundle! Looking back at Nintendo’s history, they usually do offer a deal that includes a console and a game, even if they skipped a Black Friday bundle in 2025. Remember how common the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle was with the original Switch and the OLED model during the holidays? That gives me some confidence we might see something similar again!

Even though the original Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle is no longer available after being sold for seven years, its long run suggests Nintendo might release a Mario Kart World bundle for the Switch 2 at some point. Since Mario Kart World is still being updated after six months, it’s unclear what Nintendo has planned for future Switch 2 bundles in the coming years.
