As a seasoned Stalker, treading through the treacherous wasteland of Chernobyl has become as natural to me as breathing. The unwritten rules of this post-apocalyptic world have been etched into my mind like scars on my skin, each one a testament to the harsh reality of survival.
Heart of Chornobyl also has its own set of unwritten rules.
The STALKER series is recognized for its extreme difficulty and lack of mercy. As players navigate through the Zone, they’ve developed a collection of informal guidelines over time that aid them in moving more effectively across the wasteland. Many of these unwritten rules have been carried over to STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
STALKER 2’s Unwritten Rules Explained
Make Sure You Have Consumables for Every Ailment
Essentially, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is primarily a survival game, meaning players will encounter various status conditions as they traverse the Zone. Key among these are hunger, radiation sickness, and bleeding – the most prevalent in this game. Fortunately, these can be treated using items such as food, medication, or bandages. It’s crucial for players to carry enough of these supplies for each possible affliction whenever leaving the Zone, and continually search for more during their explorations.
Save Constantly
In STALKER 2, despite having an abundance of supplies, navigating its open-world isn’t a leisurely stroll. Hidden in every corner are bloodthirsty creatures, mutated beasts, and vengeful raiders that pose a constant threat to the player. A single encounter with any of them could spell instant doom for the player’s journey. Since the game’s world is unpredictable, save-scumming, or repeatedly saving and reloading the game, is often necessary in STALKER 2.
Anomalies Can Be Your Best Asset
In the context of the enigmatic nature of the Zone, gamers will stumble upon diverse, seemingly-contrary phenomena called Anomalies while exploring STALKER 2. These anomalies range from sporadic electric shocks to whirlwinds that hoist players skyward and fling them around, with plenty more in between. Although it’s wise for players to steer clear of these Anomalies, they can serve as a useful weapon when deployed strategically against unsuspecting adversaries.
Upgrade and Repair As Often As Possible
In open-world RPG games like many others, gamers are usually advised to stockpile enhancements and resources, saving them for the ideal weapon or armor that matches their gaming approach. However, in the game STALKER 2, it’s essential to keep upgrading and repairing your weapons arsenal regularly. Finding quality weapons in the open-world of STALKER 2 is scarce, so players are encouraged to craft their own. When a better weapon or armor is discovered, selling the existing equipment and starting the upgrade process anew becomes necessary. Neglecting upgrades leaves players ill-prepared to face the dangers lurking in the Zone.
Don’t Waste Ammo
In contrast to games like Call of Duty or Battlefield, STALKER 2 isn’t played in the same manner. Ammunition in STALKER 2 is a highly valuable resource. Every bullet fired matters significantly since, without ammo, players are left with minimal means of self-defense.
