As an experienced gamer with years under my belt, I must say that The Voice Behind The Mask is one of those quests that truly tests your mettle. It’s a roller coaster ride of sandstorms, colossal scorpions, and hidden identities – a tale as old as time, but never gets old!
In the game Throne and Liberty, some Codex entry quests are easy peasy lemon squeezy, while others can be a real labyrinth to navigate. You might need to take part in a special time-bound world event or just chat with a specific character in town. Regardless of the method, solving Codex entries can be quite the brain teaser. One such quest that fits this description is The Voice Behind The Mask.
You’ll be able to access this Codex entry once you’ve explored the Sandworm Lair region on the map, which is situated northeast of Vienta Village and belongs to the expansive desert area. It’s advisable for players who are Level 35 or higher to visit this location, though it’s possible to unlock the quest before reaching that level. However, it’s best if you can reach the suggested level for the quest because one of the stages can be challenging if your character is weaker. Once you feel prepared to take on this multi-stage mission, this guide will lead you through each step.
How To Complete The Voice Behind The Mask
The quest is in the Sandworm Lair area of the map and comes with the following objectives:
- Talk to the Mysterious Mask
- Follow the Guiding Light to enter the Unknown Rift
- Get to the opposite side of the cliff safely
- Survive the Sandstorm
- Defeat the incoming enemies
- Find out who the masked person really is
That’s a good number of objectives to complete, and this how to tackle each one:
Talk To The Mysterious Mask
To begin your journey, look for the starting point directly north of the Sandworm Lair Waypoint. If your Codex is activated, you’ll notice a marker on your mini-map to guide you along the way.
The mask is sitting on top of a rock bridge of sorts that overlooks the entire area. As players approach it, they will get a prompt to speak to complete this objective.
Follow The Guiding Light
As I chat while wearing my mask, a radiant orb mysteriously materializes behind me. To continue on this leg of the adventure, all I’ve got to do is interact with this glowing sphere. As soon as I do, a beam of light will stream forth from it, guiding my path ahead.
The line will guide the player towards another glowing sphere, requiring interaction for further guidance. Following several spheres, they will ultimately discover the Unknown Rift nestled within the canyon.
Players must interact with this Unknown Rift to move forward.
Get To The Other Cliff
Navigating this stage can be challenging. Initially, you need to leap onto several floating platforms to reach the other side. The catch is that when you land on them, deceptive platforms may suddenly appear along your path. If you fail to remember the correct route and hop onto a false one, you’ll fall and have to restart from the beginning.
For players’ convenience, they could take a look at the picture provided earlier, which displays the sequence of the pattern. This way, they won’t need to remember it by heart. After successfully crossing the platforms, the game will advance to the next stage for the player.
Survive The Sandstorm
In this scenario, you find yourself in a confined space surrounded by whirling sandstorms, known as sand tornadoes. The challenge is to endure for thirty seconds without getting caught by any of these twisters. However, it’s not as simple as it sounds, because the frequency and intensity of the tornadoes grow as time passes.
One effective method is to zoom the camera back to its farthest point relative to the character. This will provide a broader view of the surroundings, enabling you to spot approaching tornadoes from afar. Consequently, you’ll have more time to react and maneuver effectively to avoid them.
Once 30 seconds have passed, the next step will begin.
Defeat The Crystal Scorpion
As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of gaming, I can confidently say that the battle against the Crystal Scorpion at Level 37 is undoubtedly one of the most challenging encounters I’ve ever faced. Having been caught off guard by its formidable presence during a quest, I can attest to the fact that this fight is no laughing matter. In retrospect, it would have been wise to heed the advice and level up to at least 35 before embarking on this particular quest, as the experience gained from the subsequent levels would have proven invaluable in preparation for the fierce combat ahead. So, if you find yourself approaching Level 37 and encountering the Crystal Scorpion, be prepared for a grueling, yet exhilarating fight that will test your skills to the limit!
The scorpion boasts around 26,000 health points, which must be gradually reduced. Simultaneously, you’ll have to handle the nearby scarabs that keep exploding. To make matters more challenging, the scorpion often employs a protective shield power that nullifies any damage from attacks, regardless of the character’s strength.
To overcome this situation, aim to shatter one of the scarabs and make it detonate close to the scorpion. This action will lower its shield, providing a chance for the player to advance and inflict harm. When this occurs, players should employ their strongest abilities to deal as much damage to the scorpion’s health as they can before retreating swiftly.
Moving away is necessary because the scorpion generates sand whirlwinds that inflict heavy area-of-effect damage. If a player gets trapped in one of these whirlwinds, their health can deplete quickly, so it’s best to evade them as much as possible to minimize health concerns during this battle.
So far as players manage to continually move, dodge the sand whirlwind assault, and bide their time for optimal attacking moments, the adversary will eventually succumb. Patience and timing are key factors here.
Find Out Who The Masked Person Is
Upon the scorpion’s descent, two supportive pillars will materialize in front of the player. Initially, players should peruse the journal on the left pedestal. After reading it, they can then engage in dialogue with the Dantalux Guardian. Once this conversation concludes, they should acknowledge and accept its vow.
This will give the player a new Guardian they can use and bring the quest to a close.
