- The creator of The Walking Dead franchise revealed that zombies are “always pooping”.
- Zombies have undigested bits of flesh pass right through them, making them worse.
- Fans may never look at zombies the same way after learning about their poopy pants.
In AMC’s hit series “The Walking Dead”, viewers have seen ‘walkers’, or zombies, eating a range of food including mice, dogs, humans, and horses. However, the creator of the franchise has disclosed an unpleasant detail about their diet that may make fans queasy and alter their perspective forever.
Three years since its conclusion, “The Walking Dead” continues to hold a significant place in the hearts of zombie enthusiasts, despite some viewers feeling that the series may have lost some of its initial strength as it progressed. Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that the show’s walkers were an undeniably terrifying aspect, particularly during the early seasons. The eerie groans and shuffling footsteps of these creatures as they approached one of the show’s cherished characters would cause viewers’ heart rates to skyrocket. Iconic moments include when Glenn was trapped under a dumpster surrounded by walkers and everyone feared for his life, or when he attempted to retrieve a bloated walker from a well, only to have its insides explode everywhere. Despite Glenn seemingly being involved in numerous harrowing encounters with walkers, fortunately, he managed to survive and avoid becoming their meal. For the sake of those readers who might be eating while reading this, I would strongly advise waiting until after you’ve finished reading.
Robert Kirkman Reveals That Zombies in The Walking Dead Are “Always Pooping”

According to ScreenRant, creator Robert Kirkman shed light on this in The Walking Dead #111 comic book. A fan had wondered what happens when a walker finishes eating, including if they can digest food. This is an intriguing question, given that walkers are often seen consuming various types of flesh without pause. Kirkman revealed that it’s highly probable that zombies are always defecating, making their already disturbing appearance even more revolting because they lack the capacity to use a restroom or change their soiled clothes, meaning they continuously roam with fecal matter in their pants.
I find myself amused by the idea that they’re constantly passing indigestible tissue, it simply moves on through. Quite entertaining!
As a die-hard fan of “The Walking Dead,” it’s chilling to ponder being near a walker, knowing they crave human flesh as their next meal. But the horror doesn’t stop there. Imagine the sickening scent that would waft from them as they approach – a putrid mix of their decaying, rotten skin and the accumulated fecal matter they’ve been carrying for days, weeks, or even years. Needless to say, I hope I don’t need to remind you not to snack while reading this! After this, no “Walking Dead” fan will ever view a zombie in the same light again. Perhaps we should invent long-lasting, post-apocalyptic diapers for these undead creatures.
For those undeterred by zombie-related humor, “The Walking Dead: Dead City” season 2 is set to premiere on May 4, 2025, while “Daryl Dixon” season 3 is scheduled for a fall release this year.
