The Weakest DC Heroes To Join The Justice League

Summary

  • Green Arrow’s fancy archery wouldn’t repel Darkseid, making him the weakest Justice League member.
  • Black Canary lacks power compared to Wonder Woman and Superman, falling short in power levels.
  • Elongated Man is redundant in a world with Plastic Man, making him of little use to the Justice League.

The Justice League stands as DC Comics’ premier team, a powerful alliance of Earth’s most extraordinary champions banded together to tackle global catastrophes on an interplanetary scale. Boasting deities, cosmic beings, and geniuses from across the galaxy, there are scarcely any adversaries that their united strength cannot overcome.

Over time, DC has added numerous new members and affiliated groups to the Justice League, some of whom don’t fully embody the title. In moments of crisis, Earth was forced to rely on these less-than-stellar heroes, making them the least capable Justice League members ever assembled.

10. Green Arrow

B-List Caped Crusader

  • Abilities: Master Archer and Marksman, High-tech Armor, Expertise in Acrobatics and Hand-to-Hand Combat

Let’s tackle a few easy targets first, including some well-known figures, and we can’t forget about Batman, who many fans argue is not the strongest member of the usual Justice League lineup, especially when considering advance preparation time. However, it’s worth noting that there have been numerous humans pretending to be heroes who have made considerably less impact.

Green Arrow stands tall on this platform and has undeniably received his due recognition lately, leading to the creation of the Arrowverse television series. However, when Darkseid appears, it’s hard to imagine that he would be deterred by just some skillful archery. It seems rather improbable.

9. Black Canary

Canary Cry

  • Abilities: Ultrasonic Scream, Master Martial Artist

In tales about the Justice League, Black Canary is a well-known character who frequently appears and demonstrates exceptional combat abilities, often defeating more realistic adversaries in the DC Universe with ease. Her signature move, known as the Canary Cry, serves as a useful asset for temporarily disabling opponents.

Compared to frequent heroes such as Wonder Woman and Superman, Black Canary demonstrates lower power levels. While she can match skills with Green Arrow and his criminal associates, it is improbable that she could singlehandedly confront a formidable adversary like Brainiac.

8. Elongated Man

Completely Redundant

  • Abilities: Elasticity

To begin with, his nickname alone earns him a spot among the least powerful Justice League members, if for no other reason. However, the main problem lies in the fact that Elongated Man is virtually useless to the Justice League when Plastic Man exists, given the current world scenario. Elongated Man was DC Comics’ initial response to stretchy superheroes, but once the more popular Plastic Man was acquired from Quality Comics, he essentially became obsolete.

Certainly, there are clear advantages to elasticity, and Elongated Man has managed to maintain his popularity in his exploits alongside his counterpart. However, without regenerative powers, invulnerability, and advanced shape-shifting abilities like Plastic Man possesses, Elongated Man becomes the go-to hero when the other is otherwise engaged.

7. Atom

Little Help

  • Abilities: Size Alteration

Paul Rudd’s character, Ant-Man, has put forth considerable effort to enhance the credibility of his power, yet the excessive quantum explanations needed to portray him as valuable to the larger team often overshadows his abilities, resulting in a less impressive superpower. Beyond a controversial fan theory about Thanos and specific body openings, there aren’t many scenarios where shrinking proves useful.

Generally speaking, Atom lacks the capacity to expand to colossal sizes, thereby limiting his potential in terms of size-altering abilities. This makes it challenging to perceive how he can contribute effectively against formidable enemies that appear on the scene.

6. Gypsy

Vanishing Act

  • Abilities: Invisibility, Illusion Casting

Similar to many superheroes who specialize in magic, Gypsy’s powers often vary widely, giving her potential as a valuable team member due to her capacity for strong abilities. Nevertheless, she usually relies on manipulating illusions, much like the character Mysterio from Marvel comics.

Since she doesn’t have a physical power source, similar to Atom, she has only a few battle uses. Additionally, her character tends to touch on a racial stereotype, and in newer versions, she’s been known to abandon her pseudonym, using her real name, Cynthia, instead.

5. Adam Strange

Sci-Fi Action Star

  • Abilities: Jet Propelled Suit, Energy Weaponry, Alien Gadgetry, Eidetic Memory

As someone reflecting on Adam Strange, I believe it’s crucial to acknowledge that he is deeply rooted in his time and carries an old-school sci-fi charm reminiscent of Buck Rogers. While some argue that history should not be scrutinized through a contemporary perspective, given his ongoing DC exploits in the present day, it feels reasonable to analyze him with today’s lens.

As a fervent advocate for Adam Strange, I enthusiastically share that this archaeologist possesses an extraordinary collection of alien technology, serving as the cornerstone of his intriguing persona. While there’s no extraordinary factor in Strange, apart from his jetpack and ray guns, his exceptional eidetic memory sets him apart. This unique ability allows for vivid recollections of a time when he was at the forefront of relevance.

4. Crimson Fox

Problematic Seductress

  • Abilities: Heightened Speed and Agility, Pheromone Powers

One lesser-known female character from past times, or rather two, as they both bore the same role, are often referred to as Crimson Fox. Primarily appearing in Justice League Europe, she usually played a secondary part to heavyweights like Elongated Man.

Crimson Fox puts on an armored suit equipped with weaponry and demonstrates impressive cardiovascular abilities, but her primary notable power is the ability to release pheromones that enhance attraction in males. DC Comics may have been aiming for a seductive female character, yet this type isn’t typically linked with heroism, making her at best perplexing, and at worst, offensive or sexist, and likely not useful in combat situations.

3. Hawkman (Fel Andar)

Impostor Syndrome

  • Abilities: Anti-Gravity Belt, Carries a Mace

In various eras, a character resembling a Hawk-like individual is often present within the Justice League, and due to intricate comic book fandom, they are sometimes viewed as original members of this team. However, this particular Hawk-like figure isn’t literally a Hawkman; instead, he was a Thanagarian undercover agent without any innate abilities.

Fel Andar disguised himself as the offspring of the missing duo and infiltrated the Justice League using stolen Hawk technology. Unfortunately, this deception didn’t last long within the League. However, he lingered for a while, participating in some exciting exploits with Adam Strange and contributing to the creation of Golden Eagle, which helped him partially make amends.

2. Triumph

Unsung Hero

  • Abilities: Control Of The Electromagnetic Spectrum

In contrast to these individuals, particularly those in less savory circumstances, Triumph stands out as a significant force. Equipped with a diverse set of abilities stemming from his command over electromagnetism, he could potentially be an invaluable member for the Justice League.

He has a tragic past that warrants his presence here. Triumph is an original member of the Justice League who was unjustly forgotten by time, causing the world to forget him. When he resurfaces after many years, he attempts to rejoin the League, but is swiftly dismissed due to his arrogance. Over time, he succumbs to a demon and resorts to illegally selling stolen goods in order to survive.

Triumph has a heartbreaking history that necessitates our attention here. As one of the founding members of the Justice League, he was unjustly erased from time, causing the world to forget him. After reappearing following decades of absence, he seeks readmission to the League but is rejected due to his overconfidence. Eventually, he falls under the control of a demon and resorts to peddling stolen goods as a means to survive.

1. General Glory

Comic Relief

  • Abilities: Olympic Level Athlete, Speech

General Glory can be compared to a less sophisticated version of Captain America, serving more as a humorous take on the original Marvel character. Despite often being used for comedic effect, General Glory may not always measure up to his counterparts in the Justice League team.

As a movie buff putting it in my own words, General Glory appears to be more of a fitness enthusiast than a seasoned warrior. He’s known for his lengthy, heartfelt speeches about patriotism, but when it comes to making a difference on the battlefield, his contributions seem rather minimal.
