The Witcher 3: How To Romance Shani

The Witcher 3: How To Romance Shani

As an old Witcher who’s seen his fair share of battles and romances, I must say that the Hearts of Stone expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has certainly added a new twist to Geralt’s love life. It’s not every day you get a chance to romance someone without fearing the wrath of Yennefer or Triss!

In the “Hearts of Stone” expansion for “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” the character Geralt of Rivia encounters a generous amount of fresh content to explore, such as the possibility of enjoying romance without any repercussions. Players might recall that in the original game, Geralt was bound to a single serious relationship to avoid solitude.

In the expansion titled “Hearts of Stone,” romance is handled as a separate storyline, allowing Geralt to enjoy some lighthearted flirtation during his latest assignment without worrying about Yennefer or Triss discovering. Notably, in the “Blood & Wine” expansion, there’s no opportunity to form a romantic relationship with Anna Henrietta, making this expansion the unique occasion where such an option exists.

Witcher 3 Shani Romance Guide: A New Option

The Witcher 3: How To Romance Shani

In “Hearts of Stone”, a character named Shani, who has connections to Geralt’s past, is introduced in “The Witcher 3”. For a significant part of the main storyline, she becomes Geralt’s loyal ally. Her presence subtly suggests that embers from their shared history continue to smolder. From the get-go, it’s evident that Shani and Geralt have a past, but developing their past relationship into a modern romance for Geralt requires some enchantment, and the intervention of an exceptionally charming spirit.

To romance Shani in The Witcher 3, Geralt should follow these steps:

  • Complete the main Hearts of Stone narrative up to “Dead Man’s Party.”
  • Attend the wedding as Volodimir.
  • Near the end of the wedding, complete “A Midnight Clear.”

Shani’s romantic possibilities are confined to a single, brief encounter. Yet, in this situation, neither Yennefer nor Triss will discover Geralt’s infidelity, allowing for the exploration of a temporary romance with Shani.

Shani And The Dead Man’s Party

The Witcher 3: How To Romance Shani

To initiate Geralt’s romantic journey with Shani, he needs to be prepared for the “Dead Man’s Party” quest. Unlike the primary relationships in the base game, this romance unfolds within a main mission. The party mentioned in the title of the mission is actually a wedding, which happens to be that of a close friend of Shani’s. This event aligns perfectly with Geralt’s aim of giving the ghost of Volodimir Von Everic an enjoyable time.

At the wedding, Geralt finds himself possessed by Volodimir’s spirit, and it is in this state that the initial steps towards a potential romance unfold. Although Shani understands the situation, she spends the entire gathering voicing her curiosity about Geralt’s feelings and expressing worry that any affection could be merely Volodimir’s doing. While Geralt’s actions under Volodimir’s influence won’t impact the eventual course of their romance, there are several decisions he can make to enrich the experience. As the night winds down, a chance for romance presents itself.

Romance Shani: A Midnight Clear

In time, Volodimir departs from Geralt’s being, yet his persistent torment and Geralt’s apparent unconcern have left Shani quite dejected. As “A Midnight Clear” unfolds, Geralt is given the mission to lift her spirits. Earlier in the day, Shani shares with Geralt her fondness for Rowan trees, a detail that can also be found in her character profile.

Complete A Midnight Clear:

  • Using Geralt’s witcher senses, look for the Rowan tree in the courtyard.
  • There are several items to find, though the Rowan seems best.
  • Bring the item to Shani.
  • A dialogue will begin; choose “You’ve got me” and “Kiss sure didn’t sate me.”

In this scenario, Shani extends an invitation to Geralt for an evening stroll. There’s another dialogue option available, but revealing its consequences might spoil the experience. Geralt and Shani share an isolated evening together, away from their usual surroundings. They plan to meet again in the morning, but Shani informs him that her duties require her at the frontlines. The romance between them is brief, mirroring Kiera’s in terms of its impact on your relationships with Yennefer and Triss. Despite Geralt’s apparent preference for Yennefer in the TV series, Shani’s romance offers a welcome diversion for the weary witcher.
