The Witcher 4 Has Entered Full Production, CD Projekt Red Announces

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, the announcement of The Witcher 4, or Project Polaris, sends a thrill down my spine. I remember the immersive world and captivating storylines of the first trilogy, and the thought of Geralt’s continued adventures is nothing short of exhilarating.

CD Projekt Red has announced that the development of The Witcher 4, previously referred to as Project Polaris, is now fully underway.

The announcement came as part of the studio’s Q3 2024 earnings report on Tuesday.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! A few weeks back, Piotr Nielubowicz, our finance boss at CD Projekt Red, announced during an earnings call that we’ve advanced to full-scale production! Can’t wait to see what we’re cooking up next!

Among all our ongoing projects, this particular one is the furthest developed at present, and we’re about to embark on the most detailed stage of construction. I’d like to express my gratitude to the entire team, and I’m hoping for continued success in our endeavors.

In a recent social media update, Game Director Sebastian Kalemba expressed, “As we’re about to encounter new obstacles, it’s the dedication and skill of our team that gives me confidence we can create an unforgettable journey for The Witcher Saga. We press on! Keep an eye out for what lies beyond this horizon.

By October 31, 2024, it is expected that The Witcher 4 will be under development by approximately 400 employees at our studio. This figure is slightly lower than the 410 employees reported in July, as some staff were reassigned to other projects within our company. However, this number equates to more than two-thirds of our workforce dedicated to the next installment of The Witcher series.

Back in October 2022, there was an exciting announcement about The Witcher 4, but as of now, we don’t know when it’ll be out. It’s being labeled as the start of a fresh Witcher saga, promising a new trilogy for the series. For those who loved the original trilogy, there’s a promise that Geralt of Rivia’s story will continue in some shape or form within this new game.
