As a seasoned gamer who’s been following The Witcher franchise since its humble beginnings, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation building within me like a cauldron boiling over with magic potion. The year 2025 could well be the crowning moment for this enchanting saga that has captivated us all, weaving its spellbinding tales across continents and consoles.
It’s been quite a while now since we last got a major installment of the “Witcher” series. The release of “The Witcher 3” was back in 2015, but despite not seeing another mainline game in the past decade, the franchise has remained active with various spin-offs, mobile games, board games, reissues, and TV series adaptations during this period.
Due to the numerous new projects, the “Witcher” series has not only preserved its fanbase but also attracted more supporters. CD Projekt Red should seize this opportunity promptly instead of delaying it. Fortunately, the Witcher franchise has been arranging some significant pieces, and 2025 might be the moment when these pieces begin to tumble down, marking a major turning point.
2025 Could Be a Huge Year for The Witcher Franchise
The Witcher 4 Might Make an Appearance in 2025
As a devoted fan, I can’t contain my excitement when I think about “Polaris,” colloquially known as The Witcher 4. This epic saga was officially unveiled in March of last year, and since then, it’s been a rollercoaster of anticipation! CD Projekt Red’s ex-CEO, Adam Kiciński, confirmed a few months later that we fans would have to wait at least three years for its release. So, if everything goes according to plan, we might be able to immerse ourselves in the world of The Witcher 4 as early as 2025!
Ever since the unveiling of The Witcher 4 back in 2022, CD Projekt Red has been rather tight-lipped about its progress on the game, occasionally surfacing once a year or so to assure fans that work is ongoing. In their latest 2024 financial report, Michal Nowakowski, the current CEO of CD Projekt, revealed that The Witcher 4 has now moved into full production, as pre-production wrapped up just a few weeks prior to the report.
In today’s game development scenario, it could take anywhere from a year to six years to complete a project like ‘The Witcher 4’. Therefore, predicting its release in 2025 is quite unlikely. However, given that ‘The Witcher 4’ might be in full production now, fans may get a sneak peek of the game through a cinematic teaser trailer before the end of 2025.
Two More Witcher Video Game Projects Could Be Seen in 2025
In 2022, it was revealed that a revamped version of the 2007 Witcher game is still being worked on. As of now, no specific release date has been provided, and whispers suggest that we might need to wait a bit longer for it. Similarly to The Witcher 4, there’s a chance fans could catch a glimpse of something in 2025, but this is just speculation at the moment.
Currently under development is the third installment of the “Witcher” video game series, which goes by the working title “Sirius.” This upcoming multiplayer spinoff is being collaboratively developed by both The Molasses Flood and CDPR. After a restart in early 2023, it’s expected that gamers will have to wait some time before they can watch its release, and even longer until they can actually play it themselves.
Netflix’s Witcher Season 4 Could Arrive in 2025
Despite Henry Cavill’s absence, production for the fourth season of Netflix’s Witcher adaptation is underway and could potentially be available for viewers by the summer of 2025, if filming follows a similar schedule to that of season 3.
Gwent Is Getting a Physical Card Game
Despite no trailers for “The Witcher 4”, the remake of “The Witcher 1”, or the multiplayer spinoff, fans can still anticipate the release of a physical version of the popular “Gwent” card game from “The Witcher 3”. Scheduled for Q3 2025, this standalone “Gwent” set will include approximately 400 cards and a playmat, and is expected to be priced around $40.
