Summary
- Breathing powers make attacks potent, but lack logical consistency and realism.
- Tanjiro’s prophetic nose ability to predict the future seems over-the-top.
- Characters face nonsensical moments like Kagaya letting his family die in an explosion.
In much the same way as many popular shonen anime series, Demon Slayer includes moments that may leave fans puzzled or perplexed. However, these confounding aspects are likely to be forgotten amidst the awe of Ufotable’s stunning adaptation. Instead, viewers will find themselves engrossed in the exceptional animation and the exhilarating fight sequences.
Nevertheless, numerous enthusiasts continue to discuss the nuances of the Demon Slayer‘s world. While the show maintains fan interest through intense battles, its narrative and world construction may not be as flawless as some viewers might believe. Here are several points within the universe that challenge one’s ability to suspend disbelief.
The Simple Act Of Breathing Being So Powerful
One Of The Hardest Power Systems To Stomach
Despite the appeal of Breathing Styles, understanding the intricate principles behind these advanced sword-fighting methods can prove challenging. It seems that merely mastering breath control transforms feeble assaults into powerful strikes capable of decapitating apparently indestructible forces.
Certain Breathing Techniques may seemingly bestow extraordinary powers upon users, like the Final Form of Flower Breathing known as Equinoctial Vermilion Eye. In this context, reason or logic might not be the most applicable consideration, as these Breathing Techniques are more likely used to infuse a Slayer’s moves with an array of dramatic and captivating effects.
Tanjiro’s Prophetic Nose
Smelling The Future Is Where Most People Draw The Line
One unusual capability that Tanjiro possesses is his extraordinary sense of smell. While it’s not uncommon for someone to have a keen nose, what makes Tanjiro special is his ability to use scents to locate missing companions and detect the presence of demons, which can sometimes be difficult to accept or understand.
It’s quite remarkable how Tanjiro’s nose seems to have an extraordinary talent. During his training in the Swordsmith Village arc, he acquires the ability to foresee outcomes, which undeniably comes in handy during battles. However, the idea of smelling future events is so far-fetched and illogical that no amount of explanation or fan interpretation can make it seem plausible.
Kagaya Lets His Wife And Daughters Die In An Explosion Meant To Kill Muzan
A Brutal Move That Was Not Necessary
Kagaya Ubuyashiki serves as head of the Demon Slayer Organization, harboring intense animosity towards Muzan due to a past tragedy. This antagonist had cruelly afflicted his family with a curse, reducing their lifespan and inflicting them with numerous illnesses.
To eliminate Muzan, he strategically enticed him to his house, a place equipped with potent explosives that could have annihilated most villains. Yet, something fans found puzzling was why he didn’t rescue his wife and daughters from the same destruction. The truth is, they didn’t have to perish due to his revenge-driven plan.
Tamayo Never Experiments On Genya
Should Have Been The Test Subject For A Cure To Turn Demons Into Humans
Among the scant demons, Tamayo stands out as one with a moral compass, diligently seeking a remedy that transforms demons back into humans. It’s an admirable ambition, yet there’s a character in the narrative who could have aided her in this pursuit, tragically never crossing paths with her.
I, as an observer, noticed Genya was devoid of the prowess associated with Breathing Styles. Instead, he compensated by consuming demon flesh, thereby transforming into a half-demon state, which amplified his strength. However, it seems Tamayo missed an opportunity to delve into his blood for potential discoveries. Alas, no one appears to have considered uniting these two individuals in pursuit of this common goal.
Tanjiro Becomes Unreasonably Powerful In No Time
Fights On Equal Footing With Powerful Hashira
It’s normal for a shonen protagonist to grow stronger as their journey unfolds, but Tanjiro’s strength multiplying enormously across the series can sometimes be challenging to accept. His metamorphosis from a vulnerable boy into a formidable demon slayer occurs swiftly.
Despite not naturally employing the Breathing Style, he managed to defeat a former Lower Rank Six Demon Moon. His power surges were attributed to the Sun Breathing style and the Demon Slayer Mark, which he was unaware of for quite some time but utilized effectively at opportune moments, making him powerful enough to match a Hashira in combat.
Inosuke’s Swords Don’t Break Despite His Horrid Treatment
Smashing Swords Into Rocks Shouldn’t Lead To Picturesque Serrations
Among the quirkiest personalities in the show, Inosuke is known for his antics such as misnaming individuals and concealing his strikingly attractive visage beneath a boar mask. Additionally, he wields blades with jagged edges, which many believe are prefectly formed straight from the factory.
Yet, upon regaining his swords, it’s disclosed that Inosuke deliberately scratches his blades against solid objects to produce intricate serrations. This might seem like it would weaken the strength of his swords, making them more of a hindrance in battles.
Zenitsu’s Impossible Reflexes
Getting Knocked Out Shouldn’t Make Someone Ultra-Powerful
Zenitsu can certainly provide some amusement, yet his growth into a stronger character through being knocked unconscious seems absurd. Since demons relentlessly challenge a fighter at every turn, it appears ludicrous that this Demon Slayer gains strength by losing his capacity to respond swiftly to threats in battle.
As I wield the power of Thunder Breathing’s initial form like a prodigy, every sense heightens within me, taking down the toughest demons in this series with ease. It’s no wonder audiences find Zenitsu endearing; even the most skeptical can’t help but accept his extraordinary reflexes as genuine. After all, who wouldn’t be captivated by such raw talent?
No One Wears Armor
Given How Deadly Demon Attacks Are, Protection Would Be Prudent
Throughout the series, the constant menace of demons is repeatedly emphasized. Their immense physical power, combined with their Blood Demon Art, makes it effortless for them to wipe out large groups of people.
Even though the characters in “Demon Slayer” seem well-versed in their combat prowess, it remains surprising that none of them don armor during battles. One might expect that armor would provide some defense against a demon’s vicious claws and powerful blows, even if it could potentially limit a Demon Slayer’s agility in battle.
