Additionally, it was suggested that the storyline in Treyarch’s last Black Ops game, Cold War, would seamlessly continue into the story found in the round-based Zombies missions of Black Ops 6. At the Call of Duty Next event, it was announced that in addition to adjusting strategic multiplayer modes like Domination and Hardpoint, Treyarch is introducing a brand-new mode called “Kill Order” when Black Ops 6 debuts.

In this team-oriented Player versus Player (PvP) setting, each team is assigned the protection duty of a crucial team member, often referred to as a ‘High-Value Target’ (HVT). This HVT acquires additional defense mechanisms such as armor plating and enhanced minimap capabilities. If the enemy manages to eliminate this HVT, they receive extra points. In the quicker paced version called “Face Off Kill Order”, Scorestreaks are deactivated, and players find themselves navigating through compact Strike maps for a more intense combat experience.

2023’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” offered an intense first-person shooting adventure. In contrast, the creators at Treyarch felt compelled to introduce significant gameplay modifications for “Black Ops 6”.

In addition to faster combat due to reduced time-to-kill and the elimination of health bars, Black Ops 6 introduces a cutting-edge feature: “smart movement.” This system, divided into three components, lets players effortlessly climb, slide, and run over various terrains without any manual control.

The Traditional Prestige System Is Returning

Going Back To The Risk-Reward Re-Locking Of Past Titles

2023’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” introduced a change in the multiplayer Prestige system. Unlike previous games, players were granted cosmetic rewards once they surpassed level stages without any loss or penalty to their progress. In simpler terms, players could advance and unlock rewards continuously, unlike in past versions where progress was sometimes halted due to a risk-reward system.

Instead of starting over completely in Black Ops 6’s Prestige system, as it appears to be a response to fan demand, players will find themselves having to re-earn all weapons and perks. To maintain balance, Treyarch has provided an option for players to secure ‘permanent unlock’ tokens, ensuring that their hard-won weapons remain even after prestiging. Furthermore, the visual design of each Prestige level is influenced by the various titles in the Black Ops series, with Prestige 1 drawing inspiration from Call of Duty: World at War in 2008.

12 newcomers will find themselves venturing into the first-person shooter series for the first time, with an exciting twist – they’ll get to wield experimental prototype weaponry that was part of the game during the ’90s era. To further emphasize this nostalgic feel, the development team at Treyarch has expressed their enjoyment in “immersing themselves in and recapturing the essence of the nineties.” In addition to these innovative weapons, classic camouflage and reticle challenges are making a comeback for players to conquer.

Initially perceived as a risky move, the addition of a Battle Royale mode to the Call of Duty series with Warzone’s release in 2020 proved to be a fast favorite due to its sharp gunplay mechanics and beloved map design that resonated with fans.

The initial map, known as Verdansk, had a significant number of players but was removed from the Warzone mode in 2021 when Call of Duty: Vanguard launched. However, during the Call of Duty Next broadcast, Treyarch announced that this map will reappear in the mode by Spring of 2025. It remains unclear if it will return exactly as it was or if there will be significant modifications made to it.
