In the year of 2023, I found myself captivated by the extraordinary popularity of “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End,” an anime that deviated notably from the conventional favorites among the anime community. Alternatively, it might be that its success was a direct result of its unique and refreshing departure from the familiar anime genres that fans are accustomed to consuming.

Regardless of the massive popularity of Frieren, viewers have been eagerly anticipating additional content. Their excitement grew when news of a second season surfaced. However, while Frieren is excellent, there’s another series worth monitoring. It may make its debut this year.

Notably, Tomoya Kitagawa is stepping in for Keiichiro Sato as director. As a matter of fact, Kitagawa played significant roles during Season 1, penning storyboards and helming some episodes (as per MyAnimeList, that’s episodes 2, 8, and 25). On the other hand, Tomohiro Suzuki continues to serve as the show’s head writer.

In the upcoming days, Frieren enthusiasts can anticipate another captivating anime: “Witch Hat Atelier,” a widely-popular fantasy manga that resonates with many who appreciate reading about Frieren as well. Although Witch Hat Atelier is generally filled with pleasant undertones and adorable characters, it also tackles some complex themes on the darker side.

Witch Hat Atelier is a manga penned by Kamome Shirahama, which began serialization in 2016 and comprises 14 volumes as of now. This story centers around Coco, a girl who dreams of becoming a witch one day, being the daughter of a dressmaker. Upon encountering a genuine witch, Coco accidentally casts a spell that transforms her mother into stone. Subsequently, she embarks on a quest to master witchcraft and reverse the spell’s effects.

When Will the Witch Hat Atelier Anime Be Released?

The animated series “Witch Hat Atelier” is due for release in 2025, but we currently know little about it. The animation will be produced by Bug Films, who were responsible for “Zom 100,” which boasted excellent animation but faced numerous production challenges. Crunchyroll plans to broadcast the show as soon as it airs in Japan; however, since details about its release are scarce, there’s a strong possibility that it might get pushed back to 2026. Although unconfirmed leaks suggest this delay, they have yet to be verified.

It’s unfortunate to consider a delay, but perhaps it would be wiser to push back the release date of the anime rather than rushing it and potentially compromising the well-being of the production team in an attempt to meet the deadline.
