This War of Mine Anniversary DLC

As a long-time enthusiast of games that not only entertain but also educate and evoke deep emotions, I can wholeheartedly say that few titles have resonated with me as profoundly as This War of Mine. This game by 11 Bit Studios has been an unparalleled testimony to the struggles of civilians in war zones since its release in 2014.

Throughout the annals of video gaming, no title has shone such light on the struggles of civilians living amidst warzones like the game “This War of Mine“.

11 Bit Studios’ Polish team introduced their game in 2014, immediately captivating players due to its detailed mechanics, heartfelt stories, and raw depiction of war’s atrocities.

As a devoted admirer, I’m excited to share that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the profoundly impactful game, “This War of Mine”. In celebration, the creative minds at 11 Bit are planning another heartwarming charity drive for an upcoming DLC, making it even more captivating!

Forget Celebrations Follows A War Correspondent

This War of Mine Anniversary DLC

The latest expansion for the game “This War of Mine,” titled “Forget Celebrations,” focuses on the narrative of a war reporter stationed in Pogoren.

In the game “This War of Mine,” Katia’s work was moving sluggishly due to the ongoing war, but things took a turn for the disastrous when a missile struck her house, scattering her work all around.

Katia now has to survive as her home crumbles while also trying to recover her life’s work.

The proceeds from the Forget Celebrations DLC will go to several charities and causes:

  • War Child: advocating for vulnerable children
  • Amnesty International: human rights advocacy
  • Liberty Ukraine Foundation: protective equipment, medical supplies, and transport for Ukrainian first responders
  • Indie Games Poland: supporting small developers in Poland

Charitable Gaming Is Important For 11 bit studios

11 bit studios frequently takes part in both solo and collaborative charity events, often offering special bundles and downloadable content.

In 2015, the game introduced its first significant event – the release of the Downloadable Content titled “War Child” – with the purpose of gathering funds for War Child organization.

The atmosphere and narrative in the game “This War of Mine” draw heavily from the conflict that arose during the dissolution of Yugoslavia in the 1990s, notably the Siege of Sarajevo, serving as its primary source of inspiration.

For approximately four years, starting from 1992 up until 1996, the city of Sarajevo (the capital of Bosnia) faced a siege that isolated it from the rest of the world, leading to a tragic loss of countless civilian lives.

Over the past two decades, the world has been enduring one of its most violent phases since the end of World War II, with levels of human hardship that are difficult to express in words.

In these uncertain times, it’s comforting to know that gaming can provide a temporary respite from real-world pressures and even extend a supportive hand.

As a passionate advocate, I can’t help but admire initiatives such as “Forget Celebrations.” These remarkable efforts not only enable organizations to make tangible differences in the lives of those impacted by conflicts, but they also stand as unique artistic masterpieces on their own merits.
