In Nioh 3, “Those Who Live in Shadows” is a side quest found in the Warring States region. To complete it, you’ll need to enter an abandoned temple and assist a mysterious man, which will reward you with valuable items. Here’s a guide on how to finish the “Those Who Live in Shadows” quest.

How To Collect Clues About The Suspicious Man In Nioh 3

As you investigate the Iinoya area close to the Omomoji Junction Shrine, you’ll briefly hear a Mysterious Ninja speak before they vanish.

This starts Those Who Live in Shadows Myth in Nioh 3.

Your journey begins at the old, deserted temple. You’ll need to find a way in and search for clues about the mysterious man.

How To Open The Abandoned Temple In Nioh 3

Go to the question mark on your map and teleport to the closest Shrine. To open the abandoned shrine, you’ll need to find the Pagoda Key. You can get this key by defeating the Lesser Crucible and then searching the body of the defeated enemy. Once you’ve collected the key, return to the door and unlock it.

Two enemies are inside: one is on the ground floor, and the other is upstairs, protecting the Deserted Village Key.

How To Complete Those Who Live In Shadows Myth In Nioh 3

You can use the Deserted Village Key to open a gate that’s southwest of the Omomoji Junction Shrine.

Starting from the Omomoji Junction Shrine, head forward, passing the Crucible Spike and any enemies you encounter, until you reach a hill. Instead of taking the stairs that go up, go down the stairs on the left, which will lead you to an old, abandoned house with a well. Walk up to the gate beside the house and use the key to unlock it.

Keep moving forward and help the Mysterious Ninja defeat the enemies. Once the fight is over, talk to him – he’ll need your help again to defeat the boss at the top of the hill. Go south and turn left to enter a house, which will lead you to an area with two demons. You can quickly eliminate these demons with a well-aimed headshot from a distance.

You can sneak through the tall grass to silently eliminate enemies, or fight them head-on as you climb the hill towards the building. Before going inside, circle around to the left to find a shortcut that will take you back to the Crucible Spike near the Omomoji Junction Shrine.

You might need to remove the spike as it could be blocking the shortcut.

Return to the building and go inside to battle the enemies. After a while, Ninja Yoki will show up, and you’ll need to team up with him to defeat the Crucible Wraith. If you need assistance, you can summon an ally from a Benevolent Grave.

Kill the boss and speak with the Ninja to complete Those Who Live in Shadows Myth in Nioh 3.
