Actress Alix Wilton Regan has played a variety of acting roles throughout her career, such as Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect 3, The Inquisitor in Dragon Age: Inquisition (and The Veilguard), and Aya/Amunet in Assassin’s Creed Origins. Her recent years have been particularly active, with executive production on Tales of Kenzera: Zau, recording final lines for The Inquisitor in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and being cast as Joanna Dark in the Perfect Dark reboot, just to name a few projects she’s involved in. There are likely many more roles she’s working on but can’t yet discuss.
Wilton Regan, in a conversation with Game Rant, reflected on her career journey post the success of Tales of Kenzera: Zau at the BAFTA Game Awards, which they referred to as “Game Beyond Entertainment”. She was cautious about discussing her role as Joanna Dark, but she did share insights about being cast for that character.
Joanna Dark and More
2025 still holds several unanticipated events, as Wilton Regan hints at her participation in various games due later this year. However, she refrained from disclosing specific details about these upcoming 2025 games. Instead, she offered a sneak peek to fans: “There are also other projects I’ve been involved with that will be unveiled by the end of this year, though I can’t reveal my involvement just yet. For those who are paying attention, if you closely listen to trailers that have already been released, you might recognize my voice in them.” As for the game Perfect Dark, a release date has not been announced yet, but it is confirmed that Wilton Regan will be featured in it.
In 2000, the game Perfect Dark was launched as a follow-up in spirit to GoldenEye 007. It garnered both critical acclaim and significant commercial success. A prequel followed on Xbox 360, though it didn’t quite match the initial game’s popularity, but its multiplayer mode was still a lot of fun. Before this reboot, gamers hadn’t encountered Joanna Dark since Perfect Dark Zero, but that’s going to change now.
When asked about stepping into the role, she summarized the phone call as…
An enticing opportunity that I simply couldn’t resist. ‘How about taking on the legendary British character in this popular video game, a strong and iconic female heroine?’ My response was an immediate ‘Yes, I’d love to!’ Simply fantastic!
Joanna Dark’s enthusiasm is easily relatable, given that not just the anticipation of the revival of Perfect Dark itself sparks excitement, but also the intrigue surrounding its characters and world. Of course, fans must exercise patience as production continues. She simply expressed, “It’s no secret that we’re still in the process of creating it, and it’s an experience that promises to be unforgettable.
