Throne And Liberty: Nightmare Deja Vu Moon Puzzle Solution

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the Nightmare Deja Vu questline in Throne and Liberty has left me scratching my head more times than I care to admit! The puzzle at Lycans’ Hall is one of those brain-teasers that makes you want to throw your controller across the room, but then, once you finally figure it out, gives you a sense of accomplishment unrivaled by any other quest.

In the thrilling questline titled “Nightmare Deja Vu” within “Throne and Liberty“, completing it proves to be quite challenging due to its need for synchronized teamwork, solving a riddle, and making the right choice when selecting a morph. During this adventure at “The Lycans’ Hall“, players will embark on a mission to locate a missing villager from Canina, deep within the Grayclaw Forest.

As a gamer, you may find yourself a tad stumped on this quest. This guide will walk you through each step needed to conquer it permanently, helping you advance in Chapter 10 without any further hiccups.

Arriving At Canina Village & Starting The Questline

To embark on this journey, players ought to initiate Chapter 10 first, a chapter that unfolds following the completion of Chapter 9 and the rescue of Benny from the Akidu Orcs. An NPC named Hannah will then dispatch them back to Canina Village, where they are to hand over a parcel for another NPC, Hardem. Subsequently, they should converse with the Guard Captain, who is grappling with a string of missing persons cases occurring in close proximity to Grayclaw Forest.

1st, Players will embark on Chapter 10’s quest titled “Into the Graycaw Forest.” Later, they will delve into Appendix 1 of Chapter 10, which focuses on the dangerous Lycans. To access the Lycans’ Hall within the chapter, here are the steps players should follow:

  1. Deliver Hannah’s gift to Harden.
  2. Speak to Gustav.
  3. Go to Grayclaw Forest and search for Harden — kill 10 Kowazan Clan Members (Lycan enemies by night, humans by day).
  4. Start ‘Find Harden‘ by traveling northeast and searching for the Quest Marker. Look for traces of the missing villager.
  5. Follow Harden’s trail until reaching Lycans’ Hall (It will be inside the Guild Landmark, in the basement).
  6. Enter the Instance and start ‘At The Lycans’ Hall.’

How To Solve The Moon Puzzle At The Lycans’ Hall

The events at The Lycans’ Hall commence right after players uncover Harden’s final clue and hear its dialog prompt. Players must make their way down into the dilapidated structure until they come across a door bearing a distinctive cutscene symbol – a bright, glowing blue cross pattern. Interact with this symbol to enter the solo-dungeon, and then engage in conversation with Clay to initiate the puzzle-solving process.

To start off, the initial phase of the puzzle isn’t overly complex. Players must focus on the distinct moon-like designs and find a pair – one yellow and one blue – that when arranged properly, create the silhouette of a full moon. In practice, however, it can be rather challenging due to the lights moving swiftly and erratically, making it hard to accomplish on the first attempt. Here’s how players can conquer this part of the mission:

  • Examine the Full Moonstone in the middle.
  • Select ‘Use‘ to start solving the puzzle.
  • Observe the light patterns and look for the two half moons (yellow and blue).
  • Follow the movements and then interact with the Incantation Pillar that holds the correct patterns, one at a time.

In the video below, there’s a full rundown of the puzzle’s two stages:

The second phase of the game’s solution process becomes somewhat intricate as it involves additional actions. However, prior to tackling this phase, ensure that a figure resembling a wolf, such as the ‘Wild Skoll’ or ‘Shadow Skoll,’ is activated, because it serves as a necessary condition for the puzzle to function properly once more.

  • Morph into Wolf Dash form and grab the first light pattern.
  • Run to the corresponding pattern in the column and interact with it.
  • Dash to the next pattern.
  • Repeat until completing the puzzle.

As I delve into each unique playthrough, remember that the patterns are randomly placed, offering an exciting twist every time. Ensure that the shapes create a complete circle (Full Moon) to avoid resetting the puzzle. However, one constant remains regardless of where the patterns appear – each pair always comes in two distinct colors, either blue or yellow. Thus, it’s essential for players like myself to locate a blue piece and a yellow piece to solve each pattern successfully.

For players with difficulties distinguishing the patterns, there are two things that might help.
Lowering the Ambient Occlusion and Effect Quality
might help them distinguish the patterns. For those suffering from daltonism or deuteranopia, turn
Color Deficiency
on in the Accessibility tab of the Settings menu.

Once the puzzle has been solved, players will be treated to a cutscene and instructed by Clay to join him in search of the missing person (hidden behind the altar). Now, it’s time for players to make their way back to Canina Village and proceed to the Talon Guild Base, where they will observe the situation spiraling out of Clay’s grasp. Players can now progress further in the Chapter and aid Harden in regaining consciousness by collecting necessary items.
