Yet, the Plain-Running Hunter side quest, nestled within the expansive Blackhowl Plains, has left an indelible mark in my journey. In the game Throne and Liberty, there’s a wealth of minor tasks that players can complete to boost their character’s level and uncover more of the world’s secrets. These tasks range from embarking on large-scale quests to gathering specific items within particular map locations. The game presents these tasks to players through the Codex, which is divided into three sections:

The Exploration tab is where the side quests can be found, including the Plain-Running Hunter.
You can embark on this side mission exclusively after you’ve gained access to the Blackhowl Plains Waypoint, situated to the north of Kastleton. It’s a relatively straightforward “Throne and Liberty” task that shouldn’t require excessive exertion to finish. Plain-Running Hunter Exploration Codex Guide
As a devoted enthusiast, I’d like to share that this captivating quest has three essential milestones to conquer. Here’s what you need to accomplish:
- Light or extinguish a Pathway Torch
- Help a hunter in combat with Wolves and collect the Hunter’s Reward
- Operate the Wolf Trap to protect it from Wolves and then check the Wolf Trap.
Lighting Or Extinguishing Pathway Torch
Pathway torches aren’t exclusive to the Blackhowl Plains on the map; they are scattered all over Throne and Liberty, particularly along the main routes. Nonetheless, it’s necessary for players to engage with these torches in the Blackhowl Plains region, which isn’t as densely populated with them compared to other areas.
A straightforward approach is for players to navigate towards the Western Campsite and seek out a tiny house located to its northwest. Outside the house, they’ll discover a torch, possibly already lit or not. Their task is simply to either ignite the torch if it’s extinguished or put it out if it’s burning to accomplish this objective.
How To Help A Hunter
The achievement of this goal may necessitate some investigative work and a degree of persistence from the player, since it doesn’t have a distinct location that can be easily found.
While traipsing across the expansive Blackhown Plains, gamers should keep their ears open for cries for aid. By looking carefully, they may spot a Non-Player Character (NPC) under attack.

How To Set A Wolf Trap
Just like the last goal, this one isn’t confined to a particular location but rather can be discovered at various points across the Blackhowl Plains, specifically in designated spots. One such spot is by the southern shore of the lake, an area where players can successfully locate it.
Players simply need to engage these characters to initiate a sequence of events. After this interaction, a pack of wolves will appear and must be defeated. Upon killing all the wolves, players should then activate the nearby trap to conclude the task. This action will mark the successful completion of the quest.
