He discussed this with ComicBook on YouTube, explaining that the scene was filmed during a different ongoing production where he isn’t participating.

From the outset, we understood that a concluding scene would be inevitable, and our goal was to craft a narrative worthy of such an ending. However, the particulars of how that final credit sequence unfolded took shape relatively late in the process.

In an interview with Variety the following day, additional details about the scene were shared. Notably, it took place on the set of ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Four weeks ago, that scene was filmed, but I wasn’t the one directing it. That’s the Russo brothers on the set of ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ It was great fun for me to be there and witness my friends take their craft to a larger scale.

In an uncommon move, Scherier won’t be helming a post-credits scene for his own movie, but this doesn’t defy the established Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) pattern. For instance, Scott Derrickson, director of Doctor Strange, was behind the Thor: Ragnarok post-credits wizard teaser instead of Taika Waititi; similarly, filmmakers other than Jon Watts were responsible for some scenes in Spider-Man: Homecoming that appeared after the credits. Following his impressive 90%+ rating on Rotten Tomatoes as an MCU director, Scherier’s reputation in the comic book world will surely grow, and he seems open to taking on more such projects.
