The website for the upcoming To The Moon expo immediately highlights its focus: more playable games and less shopping. If you’re familiar with our recent analysis of gaming expos like EGX in the UK, you’ll understand why this is such good news.
To The Moon is a new gaming and tech event launching in the UK next week. It aims to revitalize a gaming community that’s currently facing challenges.
What is To The Moon Expo?
To The Moon is a gaming convention created by gamers for gamers, and attendees are eager to see if the organizers can live up to that goal. Here’s what the event’s website says about it:
This event is more than just a gaming show – it’s for anyone who believes gaming can be even better. We’ve designed it specifically for you! Whether you love watching esports, meeting voice actors, finding new games, or even starting a career in gaming, we have something for everyone.
Taking place at the NEC in Birmingham, To The Moon aims to recapture the spirit of the Insomnia Gaming Festival, which was once the UK’s premier gaming event but has since become much smaller. The organizers of To The Moon are planning for 15,000 attendees, over 150 exhibitors, and a dedicated esports arena.
This event is smaller in scale than the now-defunct Insomnia Gaming Festival – though surprisingly, Insomnia has recently started appearing again – but every successful event begins with humble beginnings.
To The Moon will offer a diverse experience with playable indie games, a space for creators to showcase their work, and an industry area for networking. Attendees can also look forward to guest speakers and a variety of talks and workshops.
The event will host a number of well-known figures, including Glen Schofield, who founded both Sledgehammer Games and Striking Distance Studios, and Tom McKay and Luke Dale, the team behind the upcoming game Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Attendees will have chances to meet these industry leaders.
VOID Interactive will offer fans a chance to experience the realistic SWAT simulator, Ready or Not, at the event. They’ll be setting up a virtual reality arena where attendees can compete against each other.
A popular event venue in the UK is hosting a fun-filled event with retro video games, board games, merchandise, and a League of Legends tournament.
To The Moon has the potential to become a leading gaming event, and it’s particularly needed in the UK after the recent failures of EGX, Insomnia, and WASD.
You can now purchase tickets online for the To The Moon showcase, which will be held on November 12th and 13th.
