To Your Eternity is a captivating fantasy drama, penned by Yoshitoki Oima, who is renowned for the critically praised work, A Silent Voice. The narrative centers around an unusual orb called Fushi, a being with immortality who gradually forms a personality through interactions with diverse characters across different eras and locations. Assuming the forms of the deceased and inheriting their skills, Fushi’s first transformation is into a white-haired boy, the lone survivor of an Arctic village, accompanied by his wolf. Over the course of centuries, as the world transforms around it, Fushi gradually comprehends what it means to be human. However, the path is treacherous, as enigmatic beings called “Nokkers” menace the retrieval of something more profound than mere memories.
This narrative explores the themes of life, death, and reincarnation and has garnered significant recognition. It was bestowed the title of Best Shōnen Manga at the 43rd Kodansha Manga Awards in May 2019 and made it to the American Library Association’s (ALA) YALSA’s list of exceptional graphic novels for teenagers in 2019. The manga’s English version is distributed by Kodansha USA. The initial season of the anime adaptation, produced by Brain’s Base and helmed by Masahiko Murata (known for his work on storyboards for Naruto), debuted in April 2021, with the second season launching in October 2022.
The story discusses life, death, and rebirth and has earned much praise.
