Today’s a Great Day For Metal Gear Solid Fans

According to Deadline, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein – the directors behind the upcoming Final Destination: Bloodlines and the 2018 film Freaks – are now working on a Metal Gear Solid movie at Sony. The film will be based on the popular game, which centers around Solid Snake, a tough soldier tasked with infiltrating a secure government facility to stop a terrorist group.

A Metal Gear Solid movie has been discussed with Sony for quite some time. Hideo Kojima initially revealed plans for Arad Productions to create a film based on the popular video game series, in partnership with Columbia Pictures, but there haven’t been many new details released about the project since then.

Metal Gear Solid’s Adaptation Has Kept Fans Waiting

The critically acclaimed game Metal Gear Solid is known for its incredible graphics, captivating story with thought-provoking themes, and unique way of playing with storytelling. These qualities have made filmmakers hesitant to turn it into a movie, as video game adaptations are notoriously difficult – many, like Borderlands and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, haven’t lived up to expectations. However, recent successes with adaptations like The Last of Us, Fallout, and Five Nights at Freddy’s are proving that quality adaptations are possible. With its intense action, intricate plots, and already movie-like moments, Metal Gear Solid seems like a natural fit for the big screen.

Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are taking on ambitious projects, but they’ve already demonstrated their skills with their recent work. Their latest film, Final Destination: Bloodlines, received the best reviews of any movie in the Final Destination series, with critics praising its clever and surprising direction. Beyond adapting Metal Gear Solid, the duo are also developing an animated Venom movie for Sony and will produce a new science fiction film called The Earthling for Columbia Pictures.
