In the games Scarlet & Violet, Pokemon like Toedscool and Toedscruel, which are Grass/Ground types, might be confused for regional variations of Tentacool and Tentacruel. However, much like Wiglett and Wugtrio, they belong to a distinct species altogether. If you’re pondering whether Toedscruel is a useful Pokemon for battles or raids in Scarlet & Violet, remember that Toedscool and Toedscruel aren’t hard to find, so you can take your time deciding if they should stay in your party.

Where to Find Toedscool in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Toedscool Location

Toedscool can be spotted in the Southern, Eastern, and Western Regions, often perched on tree trunks within their native environments. Given their widespread presence as a common Pokemon, it’s beneficial to refine your search for an easier catch. Here are some suggested locations to find Toedscool:

1. The South Region’s woodlands
2. Forests in the East
3. The groves of the West

To encounter Toedscool sooner in your game, look for them in the East Province, specifically Area Two. They are particularly useful for the gym battle in Levincia, which predominantly features Electric-type Pokémon. You can reach the watch tower on a hill near Levincia’s southern exit by taking a Flying Taxi.

In Medali, you’ll encounter different kinds of Pokemon wandering around the outskirts of the city. One such Pokemon is Toedscool, and they’re more advanced than those found in the East Province. Interestingly, these Toedscool have already surpassed their evolution level in this area, so you can easily evolve them once more to trigger their evolution.

As I tread along the captivating Socarrat Trail, nestled just beyond the tranquil Casseroya Lake, my eyes are drawn to an abundance of Bug and Grass-type Pokémon. Interestingly enough, by this stage in my adventure, I’ve likely already added a Grass-type companion to my team.

In short:

Toedscools in East Province (Area Two) near the watchtower outside Levincia are around level 19.
Toedscools near Medali are around level 34.
Toedscool on Socarrat Trail are the highest-level Toedscools you’ll find in Paldea, being around level 54.

You’ll find Toedscool in 1-star Tera Raids too, which you can access right at the start of your Treasure Hunt. The Pokemon you catch from these raids will be level 12 and may have a Tera Type that doesn’t align with their standard type, such as an Electric Tera Type for a Toedscool that is usually Ground or Grass type.

How to Evolve Toedscool into Toedscruel

Where to Find Toedscruel

If your goal is to obtain Toedscruel, you should first transform Toedscool. Toedscruel undergoes evolution at level 30. Keep in mind that if you’ve previously caught a Toedscool near Medali or Socarrat Trail, it might already be beyond its evolutionary stage. You can make it a Toedscruel by increasing its level once using Rare Candy or Exp. Candy.

Toedscruel Locations (Paldea and Kitakami)

As a gamer, I can let you know that you’ll have the thrill of encountering Toedscruel in the wild! Unlike its counterpart Toedscool, Toedscruel is a rare sight and only appears in one specific region of Paldea – the Socarrat Trail. Keep your eyes peeled, as you’ll find Toedscruel surrounded by swarms of Toedscools!

If you bought the Expansion Pass, then you can look for Toedscruels in Kitakami:

There’s a fixed spawn Toedscruel in the Kitakami Wilds that’s level 36. If you’ve completed “The Way Home” main quest, then it will instead be level 69.
The other fixed spawn Toedscruel is in the Timeless Woods. This one’s level is 52, or 73 if you completed “The Way Home.”

Similar to Toedscool, Toedscruel can be encountered during Tera Raid battles. However, it is not always available as it only appears in 4-star and 6-star Tera Raids. The opportunity to engage with a 4-star Tera Raid arises once you’ve amassed 7 Gym badges; on the other hand, a 6-star Tera Raid becomes accessible after successfully completing the Academy Ace Tournament in the post-game.

Is Toedscruel Worth Using?

Toedscruel being a combination of both Ground and Grass types gives it unique type advantages over single Ground or Grass Pokémon, but it also exposes it to additional weaknesses. Primarily, its dual-typing makes it very vulnerable to Ice-type attacks, so it’s crucial to keep it safe from such moves whenever possible.

As a savvy gamer, let me share some insights about Toedscruel, my go-to in-game character. Unlike other characters who boast multiple abilities, he’s got just one – Mycelium Might. This unique ability lets me bypass an opponent’s defensive moves, such as Big Pecks. However, there’s a catch: whenever I opt for a status move, Toedscruel will always act second, giving my foe the advantage.
