Developer Genki Co., Ltd has unexpectedly revealed that Tokyo Xtreme Racer will be making its comeback, tentatively scheduled for a PC release on Steam in the year 2025. At present, an exact launch date remains undetermined.

Today’s article unveils that the content will highlight races set along the Tokyo Expressway, revisiting the original Tokyo Xtreme Racer concept. Currently, the game is being developed, and it is set in a futuristic version of Tokyo.

On the Steam page, it is stated that players will challenge each other to achieve the highest speeds in personally tailored vehicles as they navigate city highways with intricate patterns, striving to claim the top spot.

Back in the ’90s, I got hooked on the thrilling world of Tokyo Xtreme Racer. Fast forward to 2025, I can’t contain my excitement for this iconic series making a comeback after almost two decades! If you’re an old-school gamer like me, you might remember it from some epic PlayStation 2 releases, like Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Zero and Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT 2.

Although Shutokou Battle Xtreme did release in 2017, it launched on iOS devices and only in Japan.

The popular arcade racing genre is still going strong, with new releases such as iRacing Arcade on the horizon. This exciting new title was recently announced by iRacing, and they’ve teamed up with Original Fire Games for its release in 2025.
