- The Uchiha members in Naruto each contributed in their own unique way to the compelling narrative and character development.
In the realm of Naruto, the powerful Uchiha clan was once known for striking fear into the hearts of many. However, just before the events unfolding in the series began, most of the Uchiha were tragically eliminated by Itachi, leaving only him and his younger brother Sasuke as significant characters. Despite their captivating individual journeys throughout the storyline, other members of the once-legendary clan have left indelible marks on this widely beloved series as time progressed.
Despite having less screen time or background details, some characters in Naruto stand out due to their engaging personalities, importance to the plot, and remarkable Sharingan powers. Considering these factors, here’s a comparison of the Uchiha members within the Naruto story, ranked according to their significance.
7. Fugaku
The Last Leader Of The Uchiha Clan Was A Legend Among The Common Ninja
- First Appearance: Episode 84
In the epic series of Naruto: Shippuden, despite Fugaku, the ex-leader of the Uchiha clan, having limited screen time, he leaves a lasting impression on viewers, giving us a glimpse into his significant stature across the ninja world. Known as the ‘Malevolent Eye’ during the Third Great Ninja War, Fugaku was an undeniable powerhouse in conflict. Yet, within the confines of his clan and village, he was revered for his unwavering commitment to maintaining harmony between them and their neighbors.
Fugaku’s unwavering affection towards his sons Sasuke and Itachi, regardless of their erratic behavior, underscores his deep-rooted family values. Even when Itachi massacres the clan, Fugaku inquires for an explanation and expresses pride, before being killed. Despite limited screen time, Fugaku remains a compelling and crucial character, though not necessarily a fan favorite.
6. Izuna
Madara’s Brother Plays A Significant Role In Leading The Uchiha And Discovering The Mangekyo Sharingan
- First Appearance: Shippuden – Episode 136
While Madara Uchiha is extensively featured in Naruto: Shippuden, it’s important to acknowledge his brother, Izuna, as well. In earlier times, prior to the formation of ninja villages, the Uchiha clan was led by Madara and Izuna due to the immense power they gained upon activating their newly-awakened Sharingans.
Despite a tragic confrontation with Tobirama, Izuna ultimately perished. Yet, before his demise, he selflessly donated his eyes, enabling Madara to obtain an Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, significantly increasing his power. What sets Izuna apart as an intriguing character is the deep-seated animosity he harbored towards Tobirama. Essentially, Izuna represents the embodiment of the darkness and wrath that simmers within the Uchiha clan, for unlike Madara, Izuna never pursued reconciliation between his clan and the Senju.
5. Shisui
Shisui Made The Ultimate Sacrifice To Protect His Friend And His Clan
- First Appearance: Shippuden – Episode 201
Shisui and Itachi were childhood companions, but their joyful times together didn’t span an entire lifetime. When the Uchiha clan was unfairly accused of unleashing the Nine-Tailed Beast in Konoha, some members planned a rebellion to overthrow the Hokage and village leaders. However, Shisui was one of the rare individuals who defied this uprising.
In a desperate bid to keep Danzo from seizing his eyes and with the Uchiha growing increasingly impatient, Shisui chose to end his life, penning a note detailing his reasons. This selfless act not only triggered Itachi’s Mangekyo Sharingan, but also spared him from being the first fatality that might have ignited another ninja war. This former Uchiha’s loyalty and admirable nature were truly evident in this self-sacrificing act.
4. Obito
Obito’s Troubled Past Warps His View Of The World And Everyone In It
- First Appearance: Shippuden – Episode 32
Through the narrative, the masked man has assumed various identities; however, the true identity concealed behind the orange mask is Obito Uchiha, a disciple of Minato and a once close companion of Kakashi. To describe Obito’s life as a ninja as challenging would be a significant understatement. A near-fatal encounter with a boulder barely allowed him to survive, but it was witnessing the death of his former comrade Rin that truly sent him into turmoil.
Behind the curtains, it was Obito who orchestrated numerous plot points throughout the narrative, driven by his revitalized Mangekyo Sharingan and unwavering resolve to execute Madara’s “Eye on the Moon” plan. In essence, Obito initiated the Fourth Great Ninja War, a conflict he also actively participated in, squaring off against formidable adversaries like his longtime friend Kakashi. The profound influence Obito exerted on the narrative and the intrigue surrounding his mysterious persona made him an enthralling character to follow, even though his identity remained hidden for most of the series.
3. Sasuke
Sasuke’s Obsession With Revenge Sets Him On A Long And Grueling Adventure
- First Appearance: Episode 1
Sasuke Uchiha, a character from the Naruto series, is so well-known that even non-fans can identify him. His distinctive features – flaming red Sharingan eyes and raven hair – are iconic for the character. However, what truly endears Sasuke to many fans is his compelling narrative journey. Initially driven solely by a desire to avenge his clan’s murder at Itachi’s hands, Sasuke’s path takes a sinister turn as he becomes increasingly obsessed with power accumulation.
Over these events, I bear witness to countless thrilling battles between him and characters such as Naruto, Orochimaru, Deidara, eventually leading up to Itachi. Upon discovering the truth behind his brother’s actions and realizing it was for the purpose of averting another conflict, Sasuke undergoes a significant shift. By the story’s conclusion, he reunites with Naruto once more. To say the least, Sasuke has experienced quite an extraordinary journey, but his electrifying battles, awe-inspiring Susanoo forms, and intriguing character development have all played a crucial role in making him one of the most notable characters within this cast and an exceptionally well-loved Uchiha.
2. Madara
This Legendary Uchiha Possesses An Absurd Amount Of Power And An Intriguing Ideology
- First Appearance: Shippuden – Episode 322
One primary reason Madara Uchiha is highly acclaimed among Naruto fans is his extraordinary power level and philosophical stance. To put it simply, there’s no opponent who can match Madara in terms of raw might and skill, a fact underscored when he single-handedly eliminates hundreds of ninja during the final war. Even the five Kage were pushed to their utmost limits after Madara summoned not one but two meteorites with planet-destroying potential.
Observing that Madara’s extraordinary strength makes every instance with him striking, yet what truly distinguishes him is his ideology. Madara envisions employing a Genjutsu called the Infinite Tsukuyomi on the moon, which would induce hypnosis to halt any future conflicts. Although this concept is quite horrifying, given the number of lives he’s lost and wars he’s witnessed, it’s intriguing to understand how this Uchiha interprets “peace” in a peculiar manner.
1. Itachi Uchiha
An Uchiha Shrouded In Mystery Who Is A Lot More Complex Than He Initially Lets On
- First Appearance: Episode 81
Initially appearing in the series as an ominous figure within Konoha, Itachi’s menacing appearance and powerful abilities lead one to believe that he will become a primary villain or final antagonist. However, in an unexpected plot twist, it is later revealed that Itachi is a man who made the ultimate sacrifice, willing to eliminate his own clan to prevent another devastating war from occurring.
This one disclosure greatly enhances Itachi’s complexity as a character, keeping him a frequent subject of discussions and debates online even now. Initially portrayed as a vibrant and cheerful youngster, Itachi’s character has been hardened by the relentless cycle of war and retribution that envelops him. Combined with his otherworldly skills, which are captivating to witness, it creates an exceptionally well-crafted character that numerous fans have grown fond of.
