Summary
- Wesker meets an embarrassing end after being beheaded by Chris and Sheva with rockets.
- Major antagonist Irving is mocked and belittled before being killed by Chris and Sheva after mutating.
- Chief Irons dies from a G-Embryo bursting from his chest after trying to blame Claire.
Although certain characters in the Resident Evil series might have had an opportunity for a grand finale, many others haven’t been so fortunate. In truth, both villains and heroes have met their ends in rather embarrassing manners, despite their significant accomplishments throughout the narrative prior to their demise.
One method for rephrasing: Killing off a significant adversary in a game in a humiliating manner can serve as a form of amusing triumph for the player, enabling them to taunt the villain about their defeat. Particularly noteworthy examples of this can be found within the Resident Evil series, where certain character deaths – whether deliberate or not – effectively embarrassed these characters in their last moments, enhancing the overall entertainment value for players.
This list will contain major spoilers for several of the mainline Resident Evil games.
8. Ricardo Irving
Irving Desperately Tries To Prove Himself To His Superiors By Mutating Into An Aquatic Monster

- Cause Of Death: Killed By Chris And Sheva After Mutation
In the early stages of Resident Evil 5, it appears as though Irving isn’t particularly menacing. However, this deceptive facade hides the fact that he is a black market dealer who harbors feelings of inadequacy due to being frequently ridiculed and belittled by his superiors, Excella. This situation fosters an inferiority complex within him.
When Chris and Sheva corner him at last, he chooses to self-administer the B.OW. serum, transforming into a massive kraken-esque creature. Shortly after, this monstrous form is obliterated by a hail of gatling gun fire. As his end nears in disgrace, Irving persists in hurling insults at the heroes, even as he bleeds out on a ship far from civilization.
7. Chief Irons
Irons Acts Like A Child And Decides To Push The Blame Onto Claire After Being Infected By Birkin

- Cause Of Death: Killed By G-Embryo
In the start of Resident Evil 2 Remake, Chief Irons initially encounters Claire with an insulting greeting, followed by abducting Sherry and fleeing to an unknown destination. To put it mildly, he leaves a poor first impression. However, when Claire eventually tracks him down at the orphanage, he’s found in a rather unfortunate state of health.
In a desperate last-ditch effort to shirk responsibility for his actions, the character Irons tries to pin the blame on Claire. However, something horrific happens – a monster born from William Birkin erupts from his chest, effectively ending his life. This grisly demise was likely intended as a form of humiliation for Irons by Capcom, serving more as a spectacle of Birkin’s abilities than a fitting end for such a character.
6. Ustanak
One Mighty Haymaker From Jake, And Ustanak Was Down For The Count

- Cause Of Death: Beaten By Jake And Dropped Into A Lava Pool
Throughout their entire campaign in Resident Evil 6, the pair, Jake and Sherry, are relentlessly pursued by a formidable and extremely dangerous Bio-Organic Weapon (B.O.W.) called Ustanak. This colossal creature shows no signs of giving up and will tirelessly chase Jake and Sherry to the farthest corners of the Earth if it means completely eliminating them.
In a volcanic room, Jake encounters the monster alone following a chase. After an intense physical fight, he delivers a powerful punch that sends the monster tumbling off the edge, plunging into the molten lava below. Despite the Ustanak being a formidable opponent as it tirelessly chased the duo in their tales, witnessing such a massive creature taking blow after blow and finally being knocked into the fiery pit is incredibly gratifying.
5. Derek Simmons
Simmons’ Death Ironically References The Umbrella Corporation

- Takes Place In: Resident Evil 6
- Cause Of Death: Impaled By A Giant Obelisk
In the game Resident Evil 6, Derek Simmons initially appears as a National Security Advisor for the U.S. government. However, it’s later unveiled that he covertly heads a perilous organization called “The Family.” Despite having no apparent ties to Umbrella, his final scene depicts him being stabbed after falling from a helipad, with an enormous Umbrella emblem appearing behind him, filled in with his blood where the red parts of the logo should be.
Some spectators believed this hinted at Umbrella’s future role in games, but it could also be a chilling reminder that the true masterminds in the Resident Evil series are irreplaceable, even by characters like Simmons who appear weak-minded. Regardless, it’s rather humiliating for the main antagonist of Resident Evil 6 to meet such an end.
4. Oswald E. Spencer
While Preaching About Being A God, Spencer Is Taken Out By His Own Creation

- Takes Place In: Resident Evil 5
- Cause Of Death: Stabbed Through The Chest By Wesker
In the Resident Evil series, Spencer, who oversees the Wesker project and owns the mansion depicted in the first game, plays a pivotal role, even though he doesn’t physically appear until the fifth main installment. When he makes his long-awaited debut, it’s during a flashback, where he recounts being promised divinity. However, before he could finish his lofty declaration, Albert Wesker unexpectedly stabs him in the chest.
Looking at all the actions Spencer performed throughout the series, it’s particularly degrading that he was defeated by one of his own experiments. In the grand scheme of things, Spencer’s significance may be notable, but his departure, orchestrated by Wesker, is far from a dignified one.
3. Excella Gione
Once Wesker No Longer Saw A Need To Keep Excella Around, He Used Her As A Demonstration Of Uroboros’ Power

- Takes Place In: Resident Evil 5
- Cause Of Death: Injected With Uroboros By Wesker And Killed In Mutation By Chris And Sheva
In Resident Evil 5, while Wesker appears as the main antagonist, Excella is his constant companion, assisting him in unsavory tasks necessary for spreading Uroboros worldwide. It’s suggested that Excella has romantic intentions towards Wesker, making her distraught when he ultimately chooses to use her as a test subject for Uroboros after she’d gone to great lengths to aid him in his mission. This unexpected twist leaves her stunned.
Wesker deliberately orchestrated events so that Excella would undergo mutation at the forefront of his vessel. This way, Chris and Sheva could personally observe her public embarrassment. Following her transformation and the subsequent infestation of the ship, Excella was destroyed using a pair of laser rockets, effectively halting the chaos forever.
2. Luis Serra
It Was As Though Saddler Was Waiting For The Perfect Moment To Bring Luis Back Down To Size

- Cause Of Death: Stabbed Through The Chest By Saddler
Luis is a character who initially has some difficulties connecting with Leon, but as time goes on, they become more friendly, particularly when Luis offers Leon and Ashley medication to help slow their infection. In the original game, after Leon and Ashley enter the castle, Luis returns to the village to retrieve the pills and a sample that he had dropped earlier. However, when he finally arrives back, he receives quite an unfriendly reception.
As Luis walks through a door and tells Leon he’s found what they needed, a massive tentacle unexpectedly impales him from behind, causing him to crash to the ground. It turned out to be Saddler. Although Luis’ work wasn’t wasted since the medicine kept Leon and Ashley healthy for more time, it was embarrassing to see his hard work lead to such a swift and gruesome end.
1. Albert Wesker
Not Even Wesker Can Stand Up Against The Deadliest Weapon In The Series

- Takes Place In: Resident Evil 5
- Cause Of Death: Beheaded By Two Rockets From Chris And Sheva
In the finale of Resident Evil 5, the recurring antagonist Albert Wesker offers a formidable challenge to characters Chris and Sheva. Having merged with Uroboros – a deadly virus he had intended to disseminate globally until his schemes were foiled – Wesker pushes Chris and Sheva to their very limits, ultimately meeting his end when they forcefully shove him into a pool of molten lava.
As they soar aloft in a helicopter, suddenly Wesker reappears, seemingly helpless, thrashing about amidst the molten lava and calling out Chris’ name. Eventually, he meets an abrupt end when his head is blown off by a pair of rockets, leaving the two heroes to deride him. It transpires that not even the formidable Wesker can withstand the awesome power of the legendary Rocket Launcher.
