Summary
- Naofumi from Shield Hero remains oblivious to the romantic feelings of those around him due to his focus on revenge.
- Issei from Highschool DxD is unable to respond to the feelings of the girls around him due to traumatic events.
- Raku from Nisekoi is unaware of the romantic feelings of those around him, driven by a promise made in the past.
Anime series often labeled as “harem” style typically have a humorous tone and revolve around multiple females expressing interest in a single male character. Generally, these shows are intended for entertainment purposes (fan service), but the plot can take a more complex turn when the main character remains oblivious to the true feelings of the women surrounding him.
Based on individual perspective, it might come off as either amusingly entertaining or incredibly annoying. Notably, certain characters within the realms of anime’s “unaware harem members” are more prominent than many others.
9. Naofumi Iwatani (The Rising Of The Shield Hero)
Naofumi Was Too Busy Licking His Wounds To Notice Raphtalia And Everyone Else
Naofumi Iwatani gained notoriety as a prominent figure in the anime world after the initial episode of “The Rising of the Shield Hero” ignited a debate. This episode portrayed Naofumi being falsely accused of an act of violence against Malty, another character.
Afterward, Naofumi found himself sinking into despair. While exiled, he assembled a group of companions, who just coincidentally happened to be women. Each of them held deep affection for Naofumi, with Raphtalia’s emotions towards him being particularly intense. However, consumed by his thirst for revenge, Naofumi paid little mind to their feelings.
8. Issei Hyoudou (Highschool DxD)
Issei’s Trauma Doesn’t Allow Him To Respond To The Feelings Of Those Around Him
In a more conversational style: Issei from Highschool DxD was a rather lewd anime character who might not have been as popular today compared to 2012. Yet, within the universe of Highschool DxD, he is the charming harem lead that all the girls seem to adore.
However, following a distressing encounter with a woman resembling a demon named Raynare, Issei finds himself deeply affected and struggles to reciprocate the feelings of those around him, often interpreting their affections as jest or manipulation. Yet, it’s clear that he holds a strong affection for Rias.
7. Raku Ichijou (Nisekoi)
Raku’s Sweet Personality Gets Women To Fall For Him
Born into the notorious Yakuza family, Raku yearns for a regular lifestyle, yet his world is flipped when he’s compelled to romantically pursue Chitoge to maintain harmony among the clans.
Raku displays a kind and caring nature towards those around him, which often draws women to him deeply. However, his actions are fueled by a vow made to an unidentified girl in his past. His lack of perception in romantic scenarios adds a comedic element to the series.
Or, more casually:
Raku is a considerate friend and this endears him to many girls. Yet, he’s motivated by a commitment he once gave to an unknown girl long ago. He can be pretty oblivious when it comes to romance, which adds some humor to the storyline.
6. Goblin Slayer (Goblin Slayer)
He Has Only One Thing On His Mind: Slaying Goblins
Goblin Slayer can be described as a series with a harem element, although opinions on this classification may vary. This action-packed dark fantasy anime, known for its graphic and somewhat contentious first episode, has attracted a number of female admirers towards its central character.
The unyielding Goblin Hunter, whose ultimate goal is annihilating the mischievous little gremlins, finds himself surrounded by two eager suitors – Cow Girl and Guild Girl. Meanwhile, he also maintains a complex dynamic with the priestess, Sword Maiden, and Elf the Archer, yet his focus remains solely on goblin extermination.
5. Keitaro Urashima (Love Hina)
Keitaro’s Tokyo University Dream Might Hinge On Him Not Facing Romance
Keitaro Urashimas dream is to attend Tokyo University, however, his academic abilities appear insufficient, as he’s already failed twice in the attempt. Now, he finds himself living at his grandmother’s former hotel, which has been transformed into a female-only hostel.
Keitaro is often characterized as a typical lead in a harem series, even being recognized as the original harem main character by some. He finds himself surrounded by numerous females expressing interest in him, yet due to his shy nature and academic responsibilities, he appears oblivious to the emotions of those surrounding him.
4. Tatsuya Shiba (The Irregular At Magic High School)
The Genius Character Doesn’t Seem Concerned With Anyone But His Sister
In the captivating world of “The Irregular at Magic High School,” I find myself observing Tatsuya, a man with extraordinary abilities and an envious charm that seems to attract attention from both talent and admirers alike. However, unlike his peers who might revel in such adoration, Tatsuya stands out as a humble, dedicated leader, showing genuine concern for those around him.
Among his numerous affectionate connections, there’s his sister, Miyuki, who harbors an intense admiration towards him. However, while Tatsuya demonstrates a strong protective instinct and affection towards Miyuki, it appears that he remains unaware or unaffected by the romantic intentions behind her attention.
3. Catarina Claes (My Next Life As A Villainess: All Routes Lead To Doom!)
Catarina Is As Dense As They Come
In the story My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, our main character, Catarina Claes, discovers that she has actually lived a life as an ordinary Japanese gamer, only to find herself stuck in the role of a villainous character within a video game.
Catarina transforms into a compassionate and considerate person who greatly appreciates diligence. Yet, one of her striking characteristics, which has surprisingly won her the hearts of many, is her apparent lack of understanding or acumen. Catarina is admired by both men and women, yet she remains unaware of this fact. It’s quite entertaining to observe as she frequently misunderstands situations where people are vying for her attention.
2. Cid Kagenou (The Eminence In Shadow)
Cid Seems To Only Love Only One Person: Himself
The show The Eminence In Shadow openly embraces its stereotypes, presenting a character with extraordinary abilities and a vast array of admirers, all eager to follow Cid’s commands, regardless of the task.
Amidst everything, it’s rather amusing that Cid seems oblivious to the emotions of those around him. With his fixation on the idea of being a supervillain who operates covertly, Cid primarily focuses on himself, thus finding it difficult to reciprocate affection from others who express interest in him.
1. Ichika Orimura (Infinite Stratos)
The Most Oblivious Of Them All
In a nutshell, Ichika Orimura is remarkably unaware of other people’s emotions, a trait that is quite striking to say the least. As the sole male capable of piloting in the world of Infinite Stratos, Ichika finds himself enrolled in an exclusive girls’ school for IS pilots, leading to the predictable chaos and romantic entanglements typical of such settings.
Ichika appears unaware of the emotions directed towards him, instead focusing on his ability to operate the IS competently. His obliviousness often serves a humorous purpose and is a captivating aspect of the series.
