Top 13 State of Decay 2 Vehicles, Ranked: Which One Reigns Supreme?

Summary

  • Vehicles in State of Decay 2 are essential for faster and safer travel, increased item carrying capacity, and exploration purposes.
  • Different vehicles like Legendre, Cargo Van, and Military Truck offer unique features, storage capacities, and upgrade options.
  • Vehicles like Smashwagon, Burninator, and Utility Truck provide high speed, durability, unique abilities, and increased storage space.

Regardless of whether players are enjoying Undead Labs’ zombie survival game State of Decay 2 solo or with companions, it’s wise to have one or more vehicles at their disposal. These vehicles make navigating the open-world wasteland safer and significantly reduce travel time compared to walking on foot.

Additionally, they may enhance the number of goods that players can transport. Simultaneously, maintaining and fueling their chosen vehicle is crucial if they wish to use it as their main mode of travel. Although there’s no wrong decision when picking a vehicle, knowing the top choices for performance and upgrades is advantageous.

At each campsite, there may be numerous vehicles serving various functions. Some vehicles are designed to carry a large amount of gear, while others are built for swift movement across greater distances. All vehicles offer the possibility for upgrades, enhancing certain aspects of their performance.

13. Road Racer

Trunk Size: 3 Slots

Fundamentally, the Road Racer vehicle isn’t ideal for resource collection due to its limited storage capacity (only 3 slots). But, it might be useful for players who enjoy swift movement to mission destinations or for those trying to escape large groups of zombies.

In its standard form, the Road Racer model offers better fuel efficiency than the MX version. The MX version, on the other hand, prioritizes speed over fuel consumption. Yet, when it comes to handling, the Road Racer proves to be more manageable compared to the MX variant.

12. Legendre

Trunk Size: 4 Slots

In the context of a zombie survival game, the Legendre initially appears as a standard vehicle. However, when equipped with upgrades, it transforms into a formidable force. It accommodates four passengers comfortably and has room for four additional items in its storage compartment. Although its base speed is modest, it boasts impressive acceleration that compensates for this.

As a dedicated film enthusiast, I’m excited about enhancing my beloved Legendre with an upgrade kit, transforming it into the fearsome Impaler! The Impaler retains all the fantastic features of the Legendre, but offers more seating for my fellow survivors and, most importantly, an impressive battering ram to mow down hordes of zombies.

11. Rhames V

Trunk Size: 7 Slots

Individuals leading larger groups or needing more storage space might find it useful to stay alert for the Rhames V, a vehicle that can accommodate passengers both in the truck bed and within its interior (seating up to four people). Moreover, this vehicle offers additional storage capacity, equivalent to six units.

With the installation of the upgrade package, the Rhames V transforms into the Viking model. However, it’s important to note that this modification results in the removal of the cargo bed. Yet, you gain an advantage with increased fuel capacity and enhanced armor as a compensatory feature.

10. Smashwagon

Trunk Size: 10 Slots

Fans eagerly anticipating the release of State of Decay 3 might pass the time by tinkering with the enhanced Smashwagon instead. This vehicle, an upgrade from several types in State of Decay 2, includes vehicles such as the Pilato and Ranger SUV.

This vehicle boasts an impressive capacity for seven passengers and comfortably seats four. The Smashwagon truly shines across all aspects, delivering exceptional speed and acceleration, swift maneuvering, and extraordinary robustness.

9. Burninator

Trunk Size: 6 Slots

The Burninator stands out not just for its stylish appearance and impressive sound, but also because it’s one of the game’s most distinctive vehicles. In a recent 4th of July update, this vehicle has been equipped to carry six passengers comfortably. Additionally, it boasts a spacious storage compartment that can hold up to six units. It’s not only swift with excellent acceleration, but its real charm lies in a special feature that serves as an entirely new type of weapon.

Rather than blowing a horn, the undercarriage will emit firebursts when honked, incinerating nearby zombies. Keep in mind though, this consumes fuel at an accelerated rate.

8. Cargo Van

Trunk Size: 15 Slots

If you require ample room for various goods, the Cargo Van is an ideal choice for those seeking additional carrying capacity. However, it’s worth noting that it accommodates just two people, so teams might want to consider alternative transportation if they’re planning to travel in a larger group.

In contrast, the cargo van boasts a vast storage capacity compared to other game vehicles, holding as many as eight items. Once enhanced, it transforms into the Vandito, offering additional seating and protective armor.

7. Wichita ES

Trunk Size: 7 Slots

This new model surpasses both Miragra and Miragra NT in terms of improvements. It boasts a larger cargo area and a more robust exterior design. The Wichita ES offers impressive acceleration and is ideal for community patrolling, providing excellent performance.

As a devoted admirer, I must confess that the 7 Slot trunk’s size nearly puts it on par with the Brogan Trekker, despite its slightly higher fuel consumption. This is a characteristic shared by many advanced vehicles. However, the robustness of its body armor, capable of withstanding zombie attacks and navigating treacherous zones, makes it an undeniable choice for me.

6. Maximillian

Trunk Size: 4 Slots

Any diehard Mad Max movie enthusiast would likely appreciate the Maximillian, a vehicle inspired by the iconic film series. It’s a compact car that comfortably seats two passengers and offers ample storage space for four items.

The vehicle, too, boasts an average cruising speed along with exceptional acceleration capabilities. Let’s enhance our Maximillian model, transforming it into the mighty Mega Max. This upgrade significantly improves not only its fuel efficiency but also boosts its overall robustness.

5. Utility Truck

Trunk Size: 8 Slots

In several aspects, the Utility Truck bears resemblance to the Rhames V; nevertheless, it boasts numerous advantages that make it a more preferable option. It accommodates four people and provides storage space for six items. Similar to the Rhames V, it maintains the same health level. However, what sets it apart is an additional plow feature, which unfortunately, the Rhames V does not possess.

Similar to how the Rhames V transforms into the Viking, the Utility Truck undergoes an upgrade, turning it into the Viking model. This modification, however, eliminates the seating area in the tray, but enhances its fuel capacity and offers improved armor protection. On the downside, the plow feature is no longer available post-upgrade.

4. Military Truck

Trunk Size: 8 Slots

For individuals who value swiftness over protective shielding, they may find themselves drawn towards speedier vehicles. On the other hand, if you’re seeking a formidable, heavily armored ride, the Military Truck is just the ticket. This vehicle can accommodate up to four passengers comfortably, as they sit in the truck bed. Additionally, it boasts a generous storage capacity of six cubic units.

Upon an update, the Military Truck transforms into the formidable Titan. Equipped with a robust enhancement package, it allows players to fortify its bodywork with additional protective shielding and install menacing wheel spikes.

3. Survey Car

Trunk Size: 5 Slots

In the game State of Decay 2, players will be spending much time on scouting and exploration. It would certainly be beneficial for them to utilize a vehicle for their journeys, as driving it will automatically mark certain locations on their map.

As a big fan, I must say that while the Survey Car doesn’t catch absolutely everything on the road, its range is generally impressive. It comfortably seats four passengers and offers ample storage for five items. What sets it apart, however, is the option to upgrade it into the formidable Hellion. This transformation boosts the car’s armor and gives it a stylish new look, but unfortunately, it also strips away the survey camera – a unique feature that makes this vehicle truly stand out.

2. Trumball 4×4

Trunk Size: 6 Slots

In the captivating world of State of Decay 2, I find myself particularly smitten by the nimble Trumball 4×4. This pick-up truck stands out for its blazing speed and exceptional maneuverability, making it a versatile companion in my survival journey. The Trumball is more than just a vehicle; it’s a multi-purpose tool that proves indispensable in various scenarios. Not to mention, its spacious 6-slot trunk provides ample room for hauling back valuable loot when I return to base camp.

The Trumball 4×4 isn’t an effortless acquisition for players; instead, it serves as a reward from the Anniversary Pack that becomes active between May and August. To claim this vehicle, a player must first eliminate seven Freaks while using vehicles, which already necessitates having a durable vehicle at their disposal.

1. Brogan Trekker

Trunk Size: 8 Slots

In simpler terms, the Brogan Trekker stands out as an exceptional vehicle within the gaming world, particularly beneficial for gamers managing large groups. Notably, it can accommodate up to four passengers comfortably, while offering ample storage space for as many as eight items.

The vehicle doesn’t boast rapid acceleration yet is swift. Similar to the Survey Car, players can enhance it into the Hellion. On the other hand, much like the Survey Car, it might be wiser for players to bypass the Brogan Trekker’s upgrades. Transforming the Brogan Trekker into the Hellion fortifies its armor, but regrettably eliminates its spacious storage compartment.
