- Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro, the Monster Trio, are the most iconic and powerful trio in One Piece, each bringing unique strengths.
In the world of One Piece, there are many well-known duos who work together effectively. Similarly, there are some fascinating trios consisting of characters who usually journey together and support each other in combat. Given the perilous nature of the One Piece universe, it is essential for anyone venturing out on the open seas to have a strong team of companions they can trust. While duos among pirates and marines may inflict more damage, having a trio can drastically alter the situation.
Alternatively, it’s the connections between three characters that often make them intriguing beyond their powers. After all, Oda is skilled at crafting lively and peculiar dialogues for his characters, which means watching these three interact fluidly can make them an enjoyable spectacle whenever they appear on-screen.
8. Zeus, Napoleon, & Prometheus
Homies Who Work Together Out Of Fear Of Big Mom
On Big Mom’s island, anyone caught trespassing can expect a beating from her bare hands or Armament Haki. However, when facing formidable opponents, she tends to rely on her living creations – Homies – to do the heavy lifting instead. These Homies are inanimate objects imbued with souls, and while there are countless numbers scattered across Whole Cake Island, Napoleon, Zeus, and Prometheus are the most significant among them.
In a distinctive arrangement, these three characters assume the shapes of Big Mom’s hat, an electric storm cloud, and a furious ball of fire (correspondingly). Though they pose great peril, it’s evident that they are primarily acting under fear to serve Big Mom. This unusual relationship among them becomes even more intriguing when Zeus is expelled from the group, demonstrating just how vindictive Big Mom’s followers can become when striving to win their mother’s approval.
7. Gorgon Sisters
Hancock And Her Sisters Always Have Each Other’s Backs
After Luffy arrives at the enigmatic island called Amazon Lily, he swiftly becomes engaged in a tumultuous fight against Boa Hancock’s sister trio, who are part of the illustrious Shichibukai. Despite being a potentially lethal group for most to confront, luckily for Luffy, Hancock eventually grows fond of him and shares the reason behind their strong bond.
Initially, Hancock and her sisters were held captive as slaves. However, an opportunity to break free presented itself when Fisher Tiger opted to rescue them. Despite having limited shared screen time, it’s intriguing to observe the Shichibukai treating his subordinates with equality, underscoring the strong familial bond they share.
6. Queen, Jack, & King
Kaido’s Absurdly Powerful Right-Hand Men Are Always Bickering With One Another
Initially, Jack is the first among Kaido’s top commanders introduced in the story, but later on, viewers get acquainted with his two other key lieutenants, Queen and King. Given their high-ranking positions, it’s no surprise that they possess immense power. However, what truly captivates fans when they engage in combat is the diversity of their fighting styles.
In a unique twist, Queen functions as a creative genius who crafts custom viruses and armaments to eliminate groups of enemies simultaneously. On the other hand, King exhibits innate warrior abilities, swiftly traversing the skies and decimating foes with a single strike. Their bond, filled with humor, adds authenticity to their characters, with King assuming the role of the sharp, serious leader, while Jack is frequently portrayed as the awkward younger sibling.
5. Luffy, Law, & Kid
The Three Stars Of The Worst Generation Came Together To Take Down Two Yonkos
Generally speaking, pirates from the Worst Generation are enemies rather than allies. But in the Wano arc of One Piece, captains Luffy, Law, and Kid put aside their rivalries to join forces against Kaido and Big Mom with the intention of defeating them permanently. This unusual alliance leads to some of the most thrilling and unforgettable battles within the entire series.
Previously, Law had been closely associated with the Straw Hats, but it came as a surprise to many when Kid joined them in their pursuit of the Yonko. Given Law’s strategic mind, Kid and Luffy’s brash combat styles, fans were delighted to see Oda devote significant attention to these three during the Wano arc.
4. Crocodile, Buggy, & Mihawk
The Cross Guild Is A Bizarre Faction Made Up Of Fan-Favorite Characters
It’s true that the Cross Guild entered the story more recently, but given their membership – which includes the formidable figures of Crocodile, Mihawk, and Buggy, now a powerful Yonko – it won’t take long for them to gain a significant following.
It’s amusing to watch these distinct characters attempt to execute their schemes. Typical of Buggy, the timid pirate captain attempts to assume command, but it’s actually Crocodile and Mihawk who are orchestrating things from behind the scenes. This trio is bound to take on a more significant role in the future, and even though it seems an unlikely alliance, it’s one that fans didn’t realize they were eager for until it unfolded.
3. Luffy, Sabo, & Ace
Brothers Who Always Feel Close No Matter How Far Apart They May Be
Although they aren’t biologically related, Luffy, Sabo, and Ace consider each other as family after sharing a drink when they were kids. Ever since then, they have made it a point to support one another as much as possible, despite frequently finding themselves in distinct circumstances and encounters during their various adventures.
In other words, initially Sabo appeared to perish during his pirate escapades at an early stage, but he later reappeared dramatically in Dressrosa, aiding Luffy in reaching Doflamingo. Similarly, Ace occasionally lent a hand to Luffy, like during their adventure in Alabasta; however, he was eventually apprehended and executed by the marines. These three have experienced numerous hardships together, and the way Luffy discusses his brothers demonstrates the profound affection they share.
2. Kizaru, Aokiji, & Akainu
The Classic Admiral Trio Who Caused Luffy A Lot Of Problems
Throughout the series, several marines have risen to the rank of Admiral, but it’s the ones who appeared before the time skip – Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru – that are most remembered. These three characters, each with distinct personalities and contrasting views on justice, made every scene they were in captivating. The Marineford War was particularly exciting as they all took a stance against Luffy, who was clearly outmatched at the time.
What’s particularly fascinating about this particular threesome is how they each embody distinct facets of the Marines organization. Akainu, for instance, is quite direct and ruthless when enforcing justice, while Aokiji is more lenient, often bending the rules if he deems it appropriate. Though this trio is no longer together, during the pre-timeskip era, their air of mystery made them incredibly intriguing to explore and learn about.
1. Luffy, Sanji, & Zoro
The Future Pirate King And His Wings Have Made Quite A Name For Themselves
The trio consisting of Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji is famously known as the Monster Trio because they are undeniably the strongest members of their crew, and their collective strength has defeated numerous adversaries. Since these pirates have been pivotal characters since the story’s inception, it’s difficult not to admire them individually. However, the thrill lies in witnessing the moment they unite to vanquish a mutual foe.
Absolutely, this trio, the Monster Trio, carries metaphorical significance too. Robin’s comparison of Sanji and Zoro as “wings” for the Pirate King symbolizes their crucial role in supporting Luffy during his quest to find the One Piece. Each member of the trio has unique abilities that shine brightly, even if they sometimes argue among themselves. Their frequent appearances and significant contributions make them an undeniably iconic group within the series.
