Even though “My Hero Academia” manga wrapped up nearly a year ago, creator Kohei Horikoshi continues to enrich and expand this cherished superhero universe in various ways. Initially, he added an epilogue (Chapter 431) for Volume 42 of the manga. More recently, he penned “My Hero Academia: Ultra Age: The Final Fan Book“, an authentic data book that was published by Shueisha in Japan not long ago.
In alignment with other volumes in the series, this book offers unique, previously unpublished insights about nearly every character. Yet, what sets it apart is its focus on events that unfolded post the story’s conclusion. Moreover, Horikoshi has crafted a captivating one-shot spanning six pages, providing updates on Deku, Eri, All Might, and other beloved characters for fans to savor. Among the many intriguing details in My Hero Academia: Ultra Age: The Final Fan Book, these particular aspects truly stand out.
8. Tomura Shigaraki’s Original Quirk
All For One Stole And Used Tenko Shimura’s Old Quirk
In the climactic Final War Arc, All For One disclosed that Decay wasn’t Tomura Shigaraki’s innate ability; instead, he had bestowed upon him a modified form of Overhaul’s power to control him since childhood. This startling but debated plot point became one of the series’ most intriguing moments. It sparked curiosity among many fans: what was Shigaraki’s original quirk?
In “The Final Fan Book”, Horikoshi disclosed that Tenko Shimura possesses a Quirk called Repulsion, which seemingly enables him to float or stay aloft. Eagle-eyed fans quickly recognized that this power resembles the Float ability of his grandmother, Nana Shimura. During the Final War Arc, viewers witnessed a manifestation of this capability as the revitalized All For One used a yellow circle for mobility, which was created by merging Tenko’s stolen quirk with some other Quirks from his collection.
7. All For One’s Real Name
The Real Identity Of The World’s Greatest Villain
In the anime series “My Hero Academia,” All For One stands as the most formidable villain. However, it’s essential to note that ‘All For One’ is merely his villainous alias; the moniker likely derived from his unique quirk. Over a considerable period, fans have been intrigued about his genuine name. During the Final War Arc, they received a partial answer – his surname is Shigaraki, which sheds light on the new persona he conferred upon Tenko Shimura.
In the concluding volume titled “The Final Fan Book“, Horikoshi disclosed All For One’s true name: Zen Shigaraki. While it might not appear thrilling initially, fans of “My Hero Academia” have long pondered his real identity. Therefore, this fresh revelation brings a sense of fulfillment to many enthusiasts.
6. Himiko Toga Almost Survived
But Bakugo Was Always Meant To Come Back
In the Final War storyline, Himiko Toga’s tale took a heartrending turn as she chose self-sacrifice to save her friend and adversary, Ochaco Uraraka. In The Final Fan Book, it was disclosed that the original intent was to preserve Toga’s life. An alternate scene was conceived where Ochaco would venture back to the forest post-war, leaving a vial of her blood for Toga to drink. However, upon consultation with the editor, Horikoshi felt that ending Toga’s character with her demise was fitting and more in line with her story.
Contrary to what appeared, Katsuki Bakugo’s “death” was never intended to be permanent. The scene where he seemingly died served to demonstrate Shigaraki’s immense power, but Horikoshi had always intended to resurrect him. However, the creator had doubts about whether fans would be able to endure such a long wait. Regardless of the debate surrounding this scene, their patience proved worthwhile in the end.
5. There’s A New #1 Pro Hero In America
Star And Stripe’s Replacement Is Already Thriving
The well-known figure, Cathleen Bate, or Star and Stripe, held the top position as the United States’ leading Pro Hero, until she selflessly gave up her life to prevent All For One and Tomura Shigaraki from obtaining her extraordinary quirk, New Order. Sadly, viewers were left with only a handful of details about America’s state following Cathleen’s demise, with just brief mentions during the Final War Arc and the Epilogue Arc. Many fans have been curious to discover who assumed the #1 position in the country after Cathleen’s passing.
It’s now clear that the United States has selected their top hero, and her name is Agate Minou. Her unique ability is called Fault Line. This stunning disclosure has sparked excitement, but sadly, Horikoshi only provided a few details about her in his final fan book, leaving fans eager to discover more about her personality, appearance, and powers.
4. Hitoshi Shinso Is A Walking Aizawa Tribute
Class 2-A Addition Cuts His Hair To Resemble His Mentor
Hitoshi Shinso, a prominent character from “My Hero Academia,” was unjustly perceived as a villain due to his Mind Control ability. However, during the latter stages of the storyline, he demonstrated otherwise by playing a pivotal role. Ultimately, he earned a spot in Class 2-A at U.A. High School’s Hero Course, alongside Deku and his fellow companions. In Chapter 431, it was revealed that he later became a powerful Pro Hero after his graduation.
In “The Final Fan Book”, Horikoshi shared some intriguing details about Shinso. One particularly charming fact is that he grows his hair to resemble his mentor, Shota Aizawa. Additionally, Shinso appears to operate covertly as a more solitary hero, much like Eraser Head. Although the Japanese public at large isn’t familiar with his work, those in the know place great trust in him.
3. Eri’s Happy Ending
Class 1-A Inspired Eri To Become A Popular Musician
Among the captivating aspects of “The Final Fan Book”, what particularly grabbed my attention was an engaging one-shot that dished out intriguing tidbits about a couple of characters. One such character I found myself deeply drawn to is Eri. In this unique narrative, we find Eri as a teenaged visitor at U.A. High School, on a quest to meet Deku. However, an unexpected twist unfolds when she learns that Deku isn’t present. This storyline also hints at Eri’s blossoming talent in music, preparing for her official debut just a few days away. Interestingly, it’s Kyoka Jiro who has been aiding her in this musical journey.
In a heartwarming turn of events for Eri, a character who managed to live a typical life despite her extraordinary ability and the harsh mistreatment she faced due to it, her friends from Class 1-A, including Deku and Mirio, played a crucial role in helping her heal from her past traumas. By the end, their support and encouragement motivated Eri to pursue music, bringing joy to others just as they had done for her.
2. All Might Is U.A. High School’s Vice-Principal
A Perfect Ending For Japan’s Symbol Of Peace
For quite some time, viewers anticipated that All Might would meet his end at some juncture, particularly following his retirement. However, contrary to expectations, he not only managed to avoid death but also took center stage during the Final War Arc by donning his Armored All Might armor to engage briefly with All For One. This strategic choice to spare him instead of killing him added an element of surprise to the plotline and allowed Toshinori Yagi to evolve as a former Pro Hero, capable of mentoring and assisting others without possessing any powers.
In Chapter 430, an unexpected yet fulfilling moment occurred when All Might was selected as the one to bestow Deku with his armored suit. The latest standalone chapter built on this development, disclosing that All Might has taken on the role of Vice-Principal at U.A. High School. Known as the Symbol of Peace, he’s now poised to educate a new wave of hero hopefuls. It’s likely that he’ll ascend to the position of Principal once Nezu decides to retire.
1. Deku Is The New #4 Pro Hero Of Japan
Bakugo Also Rose Through The Rankings After His Rival’s Comeback
In the Final War Arc, Izuku Midoriya used One For All to save and defeat Shigaraki, after which he opted to teach at U.A. High School upon graduation. Towards the end of Chapter 430, his friends bestowed upon him an advanced armored suit, enabling him to resume his role as a Pro Hero, a glimpse of which was shown in action in Chapter 431.
In the concluding issue of “The Final Fan Book,” it’s disclosed that Izuku’s reemergence has been warmly welcomed in Japan. He’s now ranked fourth on the nation’s Hero Billboard Charts, earning the iconic title of the One For All Hero: Deku. It’s intriguing to note that Bakugo too climbed up the ranks and is currently fifth on the chart – a significant improvement from his previous position at #15. This change in rank suggests that Izuku’s comeback may have motivated Bakugo to improve as a Pro Hero.
