In the early stages of the CDL 2025 season, Atlanta FaZe has found themselves at the bottom of the standings, causing ripples throughout the Call of Duty community.

Mixed Bag

Here are the players you should keep an eye on as the competitive season unfolds.

Isaiah ‘Gwinn’ Gwinn

This year, Gwinn started off strongly with the Carolina Royal Ravens. His contributions significantly boosted the team’s performance, placing them at the top of the standings. They began the season undefeated, beating some strong opponents such as Atlanta FaZe, dealing FaZe their first 0-3 loss in nearly two years. Gwinn played a crucial part in this achievement.

By mid-December, Gwinn had amassed a Kill/Death (KD) ratio of 1.34, placing him at the head of the competition against some of the top Call of Duty players globally.

Thomas ‘Scrap’ Ernst

It’s been quite a spectacle witnessing Scrap’s growth. Initially, he was known for his brash attitude on Toronto Ultra, picking fights with anyone who caught his eye. Over time, however, he toned down and developed into a more refined player. Regrettably, the Call of Duty League Championship has eluded him for two consecutive years.

In 2023, this exceptional athlete earned the runner-up spot, while in 2024, he placed third. It’s just a question of when this world-class player will claim his trophy. This year, he’s supported by an impressive team on LA Thieves.

Anthony ‘Shotzzy’ Cuevas-Castro

Leaving Shotzzy out when listing the top contenders in Call of Duty esports is simply not an option. This young professional has been a shining star in the game for quite some time now, earning two world championship titles and consistently outperforming his opponents from every possible angle. His gameplay is highly entertaining to watch, with many fans describing him as almost divine when it comes to handling those controllers.

Previously, he clinched the world title with OpTic Texas, and this season, he’s off to a great start. In Black Ops 6, Shotzzy takes full advantage of Omnimovement, zipping across the map without a care, and while he might not win back-to-back at CDL Champs, he’s undeniably one of the funniest players to watch out there.

Khalid ‘Khhx’ Almadhi

Among the latest entrants to the Call of Duty League is Khhx, who joined forces with the Vegas Falcons, a fresh team supported by Saudi Arabian investment. Many spectators were skeptical about the Vegas Falcons before the competitive season began, and their lackluster performance hasn’t exactly helped them gain popularity, but one exceptional player on the team is Khalid ‘Khhx’ Almadhi.

As a devoted fan, I’m sharing an update on our beloved Vegas Falcons. At the time this post was written, they were struggling with a 0-4 win record and a dismal 14% map win percentage. But fear not, fellow fans! Khhx has been tirelessly pushing boundaries to help us climb out of the depths of the leaderboard.

In his initial encounter against the Royal Ravens, he suffered a defeat, however, he managed to establish a strong opening Kill-Death Ratio (KDR). As per the statistics, he subsequently achieved a 1.28 KDR in his subsequent game, making him the first player to commence his career in the Call of Duty League (CDL) with two matches exceeding a 1.2 KD. To start off the season, he outperformed players like Dashy and Pred in terms of overall KDR.

Paco ‘HyDra’ Rusiewiez

HyDra has consistently been an outstanding player since joining the New York Subliners in 2021. During the Modern Warfare II season, he achieved remarkable success with his team, clinching two major titles and a world championship, as well as earning several MVP accolades along the way.

Previously, he clinched a runner-up spot in COD Champs, showcasing some of the most thrilling performances across the entire competition, making him a promising talent for the future. Now, he’s representing the LA Thieves team alongside Envoy, Scrap, and Ghosty, a roster that numerous experts believe has immense potential and could be one of the strongest in history.

To start off the season, HyDra boasts an outstanding 1.18 overall KD and an undefeated 4-0 record. At this point, it’s hard to find anyone more deserving of your focus and interest than him.
