Top Characters Who Can Defeat Conquest in Invincible!

Summary

  • Conquest is the second strongest Viltrumite but is defeated twice by Invincible due to his hubris.
  • Thragg is the final villain in Invincible and is the most powerful opponent Mark faces.
  • Characters like Battle Beast, Space Racer, and Atom Eve can defeat Conquest by exploiting his weaknesses.

In Season 3 of Invincible, Conquest emerges as one of Mark’s toughest adversaries, and arguably the gravest danger to Earth. He exhibits a chilling sadism and malevolence that is striking even among Viltrumites, and his power levels are staggering, with many in the community claiming him to be the “second strongest Viltrumite.

Although he appears to be unmatched, save for Thragg, by sheer strength, this character has weaknesses – chief among them being his excessive pride or hubris. These shortcomings make him vulnerable, and he can even be defeated by opponents who seem significantly weaker than him. There are a few characters in the series who have managed to defeat him precisely because of these flaws.

7. Grand Regent Thragg

Conquest is Second in Strength Only to the Viltrumite Leader

  • First Appearance: Invincible #73
  • Year: 2010
  • Creator: Robert Kirkman
  • Most Notable Moment: Fighting Invincible to a standstill on the surface of the sun.

As a movie reviewer, I must say that Thragg, the main antagonist of the “Invincible” series, stands as the ultimate adversary for our titular hero. With an overwhelming power level, he undeniably presents Invincible with his toughest challenge yet. Interestingly enough, Robert Kirkman, the mastermind behind the “Invincible” universe, has meticulously crafted a balanced power dynamic among characters, ensuring that even the seemingly weaker ones could potentially overpower their opponents. This intriguing balance adds depth and excitement to the series.

To put it simply, Thragg stands out among many powerful non-Viltrumite characters, even surpassing Invincible towards the end of the series. In the comic books, Conquest displays a clear sense of apprehension around Thragg, and rightly so, as Thragg demonstrates a far greater strength than him.

6. Battle Beast

The Ferocious Feline Warrior is in the Same League as Thragg

  • First Appearance: Invincible #19
  • Year: 2003
  • Creator: Robert Kirkman
  • Most Notable Moment: Fighting Thragg to a standstill for several days

A significant number of “Invincible” comic book enthusiasts were caught off guard by this revelation, as Battle Beast displayed strength comparable to Thragg. Similar to Conquest, Battle Beast’s life revolves around his unwavering desire for a worthy fight. Consistently throughout the series, Battle Beast makes it abundantly clear that his sole motivation is to locate and engage in battle with an opponent capable of defeating him.

Indeed, as expected, Battle Beast showcases his immense strength in the comics, particularly when he nearly overpowers Thragg in a brutal one-on-one fight to the death. This battle highlights him as one of the most powerful characters within the series, capable of potentially defeating Conquest.

5. Invincible

Despite Being Weaker Than Conquest, Invincible Defeats Him Twice

  • First Appearance: Invincible #1
  • Year: 2003
  • Created By: Robert Kirkman
  • Most Notable Moment: Becoming the Grand Emperor of the Viltrumites

In my humble opinion as a movie enthusiast, “Invincible” isn’t your typical powerhouse hero from the get-go. He gradually builds up his might throughout the series. However, when it comes to face-offs with Conquest, there are moments where he seems far from ready to take him down with brute force alone. Remarkably, in two separate encounters, “Invincible” manages to pull off the seemingly impossible, defeating Conquest both times!

One factor that often hinders Conquest in battles is his tendency towards sadism and overconfidence. He enjoys toy-like interactions with his opponents, prolonging fights excessively. However, he learns a hard lesson when dealing with Invincible, who beats him twice in the comics due to unwavering determination and sheer force of will. By the end of the series, Invincible significantly surpasses Conquest in terms of strength.

4. Allen the Alien

Gains Significant Power-Ups Throughout the Series

  • First Appearance: Invincible #5
  • Year: 2003
  • Created By: Robert Kirkman
  • Most Notable Moment: Becoming the leader of the Coalition of Planets

Allen hails from the Unopan planet, which was overtaken by the Viltrumites. In an attempt to combat these invaders, the Unopans genetically augmented Allen with the expectation that he could stand toe-to-toe with them. As a result of this enhancement, he gained the unique ability to grow stronger each time he faces death’s threshold, much like the Saiyans do in the Dragon Ball anime series after experiencing a similar near-death situation.

Over the span of the comics, Allen accumulates numerous power boosts after surviving life-threatening situations, making him one of the most powerful characters by the series finale. By this point, he’s on par with Mark, Thragg, and Battle Beast, suggesting he can certainly take down Conquest.

3. Omni-Man

Nolan is One of the Most Respected Viltrumite Warriors

  • First Appearance: Invincible #1
  • Year: 2003
  • Created By: Robert Kirkman
  • Most Notable Moment: Finding Out He’s the Heir to Argall and Leading the Viltrumites

The story initiates with Omni-Man, the initial Viltrumite character, who sets an impressive tone. Notably, he’s one of only four Viltrumites – alongside Invincible, Thragg, and Conquest – whose abilities are undeniably evident. This makes him one of the strongest characters in the series. Whether it’s his solo annihilation of the Thraxans, his confrontation with Invincible, or his single-handed defeat of the original Guardians of the Globe, Omni-Man is a formidable combatant indeed.

It’s clear that Conquest is stronger than him, and Omni-Man appears to be intimidated by Conquest when they first meet. However, at that time, Omni-Man was still more powerful than Invincible, as admitted by Conquest himself. Yet, it’s Invincible who eventually defeats Omni-Man. Omni-Man’s prowess in battle and his strategic mindset allow him to outmaneuver and overcome the ruthless Viltrumite soldier, Viltrumite being the species of both Conquest and Omni-Man.

2. Space Racer

Given Conquest’s Overconfidence, Space Racer Can Be Lethal

  • First Appearance: Invincible #35
  • Year: 2006
  • Created By: Robert Kirkman
  • Most Notable Moment: Fighting Omni-Man to a Standstill

One intriguing character in the series who has the potential to overpower Conquest through strategic superiority is Space Racer. Despite his mysterious background, he is later unveiled as an assassin who travels across the cosmos on a hoverbike. Eventually, he aligns with the coalition of planets to combat the Viltrumites.

What sets him apart is his powerful instrument, the Infinity Ray, rumored to be able to pierce through anything from mere objects to entire planets. He’s capable of holding Omni-Man at bay in combat. Unlike the omnipotent Omni-Man, however, Conquest is a warrior who relies on brute strength and often becomes overconfident. Space Racer can exploit this arrogance by catching Conquest off guard with his weapon, ultimately leading to Conquest’s demise.

1. Atom Eve

With Her Restraints Lifted, Atom Eve Has Unlimited Potential

  • First Appearance: Invincible #2
  • Year: 2003
  • Created By: Robert Kirkman
  • Most Notable Moment: Resurrecting herself and Mark while making him strong enough to defeat Thragg.

Independently, Atom Eve stands out as a captivating figure whose abilities surpass mere physical might. Possessing the unique talent to control matter at an atomic level, she also demonstrates superhuman prowess in strength, speed, and flight. Typically, she can only modify non-living substances.

This is largely due to the fact that when she first acquired her abilities, a scientist conducting experiments on her imposed artificial constraints on her mental capacity. These limitations can only be removed if she experiences substantial psychological or physical upheaval. Once she transcends this state, she becomes the most potent character in the series, acquiring the power to control matter down to its biological components. In Season 3 of Invincible, she discharges a single blast at Conquest while in this enhanced state, stripping away all the skin from his torso.
