Nintendo fans are eagerly awaiting the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in theaters next week. This week, it was revealed that Fox McCloud from Star Fox will also join the battle against Bowser and his son, and now we know who will be voicing this famous pilot.
Glen Powell, known for his roles in movies like Top Gun: Maverick, Twisters, and the upcoming The Running Man (2025), has been announced as the voice of Fox McCloud. Powell shared the news on social media, enthusiastically dressing up in Fox McCloud’s iconic jacket and posing amongst posters for the Super Mario Galaxy Movie. He simply celebrated with a star and a fox emoji.
A Larger Nintendo Galaxy
Fox McCloud isn’t the only familiar face joining the cast of the new Super Mario movie. Pikmin, from the Pikmin series, will also make an appearance, though likely just a brief one. However, promotional materials suggest Fox might have a more significant part to play. This has fans wondering if Nintendo and Universal could eventually create a Super Smash Bros.style crossover film, considering that game already features characters from franchises like The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Metroid. With the movie releasing next week, it’s hard to predict who else might show up. Fox’s inclusion is particularly exciting because it’s been a while since he starred in his own game – Star Fox Zero came out in 2016 – and this role could signal that a new Star Fox* game is in development.
