Toronto Ultra Slammed by Crazy Raccoon in EWC Overwatch Final

As a dedicated fan of competitive Overwatch, I have been utterly captivated by Crazy Raccoon‘s meteoric rise to victory at the Esports World Cup. Witnessing them lift the trophy for the Overwatch 2 category was nothing short of exhilarating. They were unstoppable, winning map after map with only two losses along the way. Toronto Ultra put up a valiant fight, but Crazy Raccoon was in a league of their own.

At the Overwatch 2 category of the Esports World Cup, the underdog team Crazy Raccoon surprised everyone by winning the championship. They sailed through the competition, outperforming Toronto Ultra in the final match, who were among the favorites to take home the trophy. The skill and determination of Crazy Raccoon shone brightly throughout the tournament as they only lost two maps during their entire run.

Toronto Ultra was sharp, but Crazy Raccoon was on another level entirely.

Weird Name, Great Team

A Japanese organization called Crazy Raccoon was established in 2018. However, they didn’t make their debut in the Overwatch 2 competitive scene until April this year. At the Esports World Cup, they put up an impressive performance with their newly formed team. In June, this squad achieved victory and a $100,000 prize at the OCS 2024 Major, marking the start of a successful run.

It’s important to note that Crazy Raccoon isn’t just any team that has stumbled upon success – their roster is made up of some of the greatest Overwatch players in history. Last year, CH0R0NG brought home the OWL playoffs championship, which was the penultimate competition before the entire league came to a halt. Additionally, Shu boasts an impressive resume with multiple victories in top-tier tournaments, making him one of the richest Overwatch players in the industry.

Lee “LIP” Jae-won, an essential member of the team, outshone others by winning the top spot in the 2021 Playoffs and a total of 13 major events (excluding EWC). Almost all these victories were achieved while playing with the Shanghai Dragons.

Over the weekend, our team came very close to defeating Toronto Ultra in every match, but Toronto managed to secure a single victory. The most recent competition between these teams featured an incredibly tight contest on Runasapi’s Push map. Toronto emerged victorious with only a 0.01-meter difference, securing the win with a score of 130.43 meters to CR’s 130.42 meters.

In the following map, Ultra’s defeat at the hands of Crazy Raccoon was not sufficient. This loss resulted in Ultra being shut down, leading to a win for Crazy Raccoon and a reward of $400,000, as well as an essential 1,000 points added to his Club Championship total.

Toronto Ultra experienced a significant setback in their journey as they were dominating the bracket and had eliminated LGD, Twisted, and ZETA. However, their victory streak came to an end in the Grand Final, resulting in a defeat. Yet, the team managed to secure a prize of $160,000 from the competition. So, while it was not a complete success, there were still some positive outcomes.
