Summary

- Major staff changes in season two include The Answer Studio and new series directors.
As a longtime anime enthusiast with a keen eye for detail and a heart that beats for captivating stories, I must say that Tower of God Season 2 left me somewhat underwhelmed compared to its predecessor. The time-lapse between seasons seems to have dampened the initial excitement that surrounded the series, much like how waiting for a reunion with a long-lost friend can sometimes be less fulfilling than anticipated.
This year, many fans eagerly anticipated the second run of “Tower of God,” an anime series that had garnered much praise. However, compared to the intense focus it initially received in 2020, the more recent episodes have not been as widely discussed.
One potential reason for the gap between the two seasons could be a contributing factor. For instance, the anime adaptation of another popular South Korean series titled “Solo Leveling” has managed to maintain anticipation for its second season, airing just one year after the first. However, it’s important to note that this is not the sole explanation for why “Tower of God” appears to be falling short of the initial hype.
The series has been running non-stop for two complete blocks since July 7th. Now, officially, it will conclude with episode 26. The 25th episode is set to air on December 22nd, though many shows in Japan typically take a break during the last week of the year. So, it’s probable that the series will end on January 5th, 2025. Once it finishes airing, there’s a chance another season might be announced.
Tower of God Season 2 Staff
In addition to the shift in timeline (or possibly due to it), significant personnel changes occurred during season two. While the first season was produced by Telecom Animation Film, a new studio, The Answer Studio, took over for the subsequent season.
Kazuyoshi Takeuchi and Akira Suzuki are responsible for overseeing the series’ creative direction, with Takeuchi having previously directed “City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust” (2023). However, this appears to be Suzuki’s directorial debut. Meanwhile, Erika Yoshida resumes her role as the lead writer.
Tower of God Plot Premise
In a made-up world, there stands a colossal and enigmatic tower. This tower, filled with perilous levels, draws the curiosity of those seeking power and prestige. Those who ascend to the top of this tower will earn the title of Ranker, bestowed upon them with various benefits (though the story might seem brief, it’s merely a snapshot).
In this situation, there’s a young fellow named Bam (which means ‘Night’ in Korean). For most of his existence, Bam has been confined, with kind-hearted Rachel looking after him. One fateful day, Rachel departs, aiming to ascend the tower. Against her express wishes, Bam sneaks into the tower himself, resolute on bridging the gap between them, even if she may not turn out to be exactly as he imagines.
Tower of God is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
