As a long-time fan of Tower of God, I’ve witnessed Bam’s heart-wrenching betrayal by Rachel and his subsequent transformation into Jue Viole Grace, a Slayer candidate in FUG. Six years have passed since that fateful day, and Bam’s life has taken a drastically different turn. He is now an enemy of Jahad and the 10 Great Families, operating under the banner of the mysterious organization known as FUG.

As a dedicated fan of anime and manga, I’ve come across many a suspenseful series that leave me on the edge of my seat, but few have managed to captivate me as much as “Tower of God.” Having read the webcomic avidly on WEBTOON, I feel compelled to warn fellow enthusiasts: be prepared for some major spoilers if you come across content labeled as relating to Tower of God, now available on Crunchyroll. This series is not for the faint-hearted or those who can’t handle cliffhangers! The intricate plot, complex characters, and breathtaking artwork keep me hooked episode after episode. I urge you to experience it for yourself, but only if you’re ready for a rollercoaster ride of emotions and suspense.

In the second part of “Tower of God,” six years have passed since Rachel’s traumatic act against Bam, aiming to harm him. Now, with an entirely new perspective and working under a clandestine group named “FUG,” her goal is to bring down Jahad and those who support him. This organization harbors a dark intention towards Jahad and his followers.

Just who are they, and what is the reason for their operations?

What Happened To Bam?

The Aftermath of Betrayal

Tower of God: What's FUG?

As a devoted fan, I can recount my excitement during the final stretch of the first Tower of God season. Rachel and I, believed to be wheelchair-bound following an accident during the Position Test on the tower’s second level, embarked on our journey together. However, things took an unexpected turn as Rachel suddenly stood up and shoved me off the ascending platform. Due to my prodigious Shinsu control, I miraculously survived the fall into the abyss. Six long years passed, and I transformed into Jue Viole Grace, a FUG Slayers division agent, donning the ominous insignia on my attire that left characters in episodes 1 and 2 of the second season quivering with fear.

The Objectives of FUG

Mark of the Slayer

Tower of God: What's FUG?

The mysterious organization operating within the tower known as FUG has been described as an “anti-Jahad” faction. It is unknown what “FUG” stands for. Viole describes his objective in the second episode of Tower of God season 2 as “the complete destruction of Jahad and his family”. Jahad has been described as the first person to climb the tower, having gone up 143 floors. Over the course of the first season, and at the beginning of season 2, we were given a glimpse into Jahad through the famed “Princesses of Jahad”. This was a group of elite women from various origins who are selected by King Jahad, becoming like proxies and enforcers of his authority as “the best the tower has to offer”. In exchange for serving Jahad, they receive his power. It is seen as a position of immense honour that is almost impossible to achieve. FUG is made up of people who harbour a grudge against Jahad as well as the 10 Great Families.

The Slayers are a group of individuals tasked with the decimation of Jahad and the 10 Great Families, with Jue Viole Grace being the first that we’ve been introduced to in the anime so far. He is identified as a Slayer based on the insignia on his robe; however, he is only a Slayer candidate at this stage. The Slayers are all supposedly very powerful and are revered by members of FUG as gods, and there have been three generations of Slayers since the inception of FUG in the Age of Genesis thousands of years ago. In ancient times, the Jahad Empire emerged victorious in a great war that broke out across the tower prior to the events of the current plot, which led to Jahad becoming King of the Tower. Upon Jahad’s coronation, FUG was established to oppose the new order imposed by Jahad, inciting a new war between themselves and the forces of Jahad.

Dissent Is Not Tolerated

Tower of God: What's FUG?

Although FUG is notoriously known for its criminal activities and once held significant power in the tower, it has been weakened considerably by Jahad’s dominance. Throughout history, Jahad has systematically eliminated opposing factions, leaving him with an overwhelming influence that limits FUG’s reach. An illustration of this was seen last season when Lo Po Bia Ren, a Ranker under Jahad’s command, was sent to eliminate Anaak, who was shamed as “Jahad’s disgrace” due to her mother’s romantic liaison with a commoner and the birth of their daughter.

In various instances, it becomes apparent that even high-ranking figures like Administrators and Rankers carry out Jahad’s desires. For example, in season 2 episode 2, Love, the administrator of the Shinsu control test, concealed his disdain for Viole by not forming a team with him because of conflicting interests. As a member of FUG, Viole is considered an adversary to those attempting to ascend the Tower, as well as anyone connected or allied with Jahad. Near the end of the episode, it was revealed that Viole’s remarks pose a danger to the Jahadi system, leading Love to put a target on Viole for elimination.
