As a seasoned Call of Duty player with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that Black Ops 6 has piqued my interest with its unique approach to map sizes. After years of traversing sprawling battlefields and labyrinthine complexes, it’s refreshing to see Treyarch opt for a more compact playground this time around.
The choice of beta maps in Black Ops 6 sparked significant criticism due to their small size and confusion, however, since the beta has concluded, Treyarch has provided details on the actual size of the launch maps.
At its release on October 25th, the game will include sixteen all-new levels to explore. During the beta testing, we had a chance to play eight of these maps; hence, we’ll need to wait for the official launch to access the remaining ones.
In Black Ops 6, you won’t find expansive maps like some may expect. The backlash against the beta’s map sizes was notable, and Treyarch has confirmed via a September 9 tweet that most of the Core 6v6 maps in Black Ops 6 are medium-sized, resembling the dimensions of Raid or Summit maps.
Initially, we had 16 maps available. Among these, eight are of a medium size, four are relatively smaller, and another four are Strike maps, which are even smaller and designed for 2v2 battles but also support the 6v6 Face Off mode. You can explore them all using this link: [maps link]
- Vault – Medium
- Protocol – Medium
- Lowtown – Medium
- Red Card – Medium
- Vorkuta – Medium
- Skyline – Medium
- Rewind – Medium
- Scud – Medium
- Subsonic – Small
- Payback – Small
- Babylon – Small
- Derelict – Small
- Warhead – Strike
- Pit – Strike
- Gala – Strike
- Stakeout – Strike
According to Treyarch, it’s essential that game maps offer a sense of direction and diversity to ensure an optimal player experience, and they’ve made sure to provide a variety of map sizes suitable for Black Ops enthusiasts at the initial release.
If you’re wondering about the range of map sizes in Black Ops 6 at its release: Most of the Core 6v6 maps fall under the medium-sized category, much like Raid or Summit.

Despite the line-up, players remain uncertain, expressing concerns that Skyline appears smaller compared to standard medium-sized maps. This leaves them apprehensive about how the remaining maps might turn out.
A smaller map will be delivered following the game’s release, much like Nuketown was included in the initial unveiling. It’s expected to come out between the launch and Season 1, similar to how Nuketown ’84 appeared a few weeks after Black Ops Cold War started.
Even though there’s still a challenge ahead, securing the fresh camouflage designs will now be more straightforward due to their availability without level restrictions, and the lively nature of these mid-sized and compact maps ensuring continuous gameplay.
