Trials Developer Ubisoft RedLynx To Lose 60 Employees In Layoffs, Become A Mobile Developer

Up to 60 employees at Ubisoft Redlynx, the studio behind the Trials series, will be laid off as part of broader cuts at its parent company, Ubisoft.

Ubisoft announced on its website that it’s reorganizing RedLynx as part of a larger plan to streamline operations, cut costs, and improve efficiency across all of its studios worldwide.

Redlynx plans to discuss the proposal with studio staff before making a final decision. The proposal mainly affects the teams responsible for administration and production. These discussions will begin on October 30th and are expected to conclude by the end of November.

“If materialized, this proposal would result in the reduction of maximum 60 positions,” they say.

What Is The Ubisoft Proposal For Redlynx?

The proposal suggests Redlynx will shift its focus from developing for multiple platforms to specifically creating content for smaller screens, like mobile devices.

This will help the studio achieve long-term success and use its resources effectively, particularly its special skills, beginning with two mobile games currently in development.

As a big fan of RedLynx and Ubisoft, I was really pleased to hear from Celine Pasula, the managing director. She said they’re confident that with some planned changes, RedLynx will continue to be a key part of Ubisoft’s future. They’ll be focusing on making awesome games for mobile, and helping Ubisoft create even better experiences across all platforms, especially on smaller screens, to reach more players. It’s great to know they’re committed to pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming and expanding Ubisoft’s reach!

Alongside news of layoffs at Ubisoft RedLynx, Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment studio also announced it was cutting jobs.
