As a seasoned Silent Hill veteran with countless hours spent navigating its haunting landscapes, I must say that the puzzle-solving aspect of the series has always been one of my favorite features. The Chained Box Puzzle in the Otherworld version of Brookhaven Hospital in the Silent Hill 2 Remake was no exception.

In the alternate reality depiction of Brookhaven Hospital, players encounter a Chain box riddle that needs solving. To solve this riddle, they need a key and two codes to open it. Upon solving the puzzle, players can use the elevator once more, and will then be presented with three inquiries. The correct responses to these questions will unlock a Decorative Box within the Hospital at a later stage.

How To Open Pharmacy Decorative Box In Silent Hill 2 Remake

Once they’ve conquered the Chained Box Puzzle, puzzle enthusiasts drawn to the mysteries within the Silent Hill series can locate the mysterious “-1 Elevator Button” on the statue. Pressing this button initiates a conversation with someone over a speaker, asking a sequence of Trick or Treat questions.

    : In the early-eighteen hundred, a terrible disease spread across Silent Hill, resulting in the death of many of its inhabitants. Their bodies thrown into the lake of sleep forever in their watery grave. How many souls were lost during the plague?

    : Follow Sanders Street heading East and further on, to the outskirts of town. One – and only – road will take you towards the lumber yard and the cemetery. What is the name of that road?

    : Silent Hill witnessed a gruesome murder a few years back. A brother and sister were playing in the road and they were attacked and chopped into pieces with an axe. Torn flesh, smashes bones, splattered blood… What a terrible tragedy. What a gruesome end to such innocent lives. One of the victims was a local boy named Billy Locane. BUT… what was the name of the other victim, Billy’s sister?

    : Miriam, Heather, Julia.

After asking three questions, proceed further until you get to the Dayroom. In the Dayroom, look inside the fridge to retrieve the Lead Ring. Then, make your way to the Pharmacy and locate a Decorative Box with nine buttons. Press exactly three of these buttons corresponding to each correct answer from the questions I asked earlier. Here are the answers:

  • Q1. 2 (A statue in Rosewater Park has this in its description)
  • Q2. 3 (The path from the Observation Deck, opening the South Vale map, should show the road)
  • Q3. 1 (Newspaper in Wood Side Apartment)

Following the input of code 231, you’ll be able to open the container to discover two syringes for healing purposes and two boxes filled with shotgun shells.
