Trump Assassination Attempt Suspect Surfaces in Old JiDion Video

Key Takeaways

  • Suspected would-be Trump assassin Ryan Wesley Routh was spotted in an old JiDion video.

  • Routh claims he’s “looking for revolutionaries” in the video.

As a long-time follower and admirer of JiDion’s YouTube channel, it’s always fascinating to see how his encounters with random individuals can sometimes lead to unexpected revelations. The recent discovery of Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspected would-be Trump assassin, in an old JiDion video is a chilling reminder of the unpredictable world we live in. It’s intriguing to think that the same man who was trying to get JiDion to accept some mysterious pamphlet back then, is now at the center of a major political drama.

Ryan Wesley Routh, the individual under suspicion for attempting to harm former U.S. President Donald Trump, has appeared in an old video from popular YouTube personality Jidon “JiDion” Armani Adams. The well-known YouTuber can be seen playfully teasing Routh in a clip that has recently resurfaced.

Around 1 PM Eastern Time on Sunday, September 15, Secret Service agents noticed a man brandishing a rifle towards a golf course near the Mar-a-Lago Club, where Donald Trump, the former president, was playing golf. According to the FBI’s subsequent statement, the agents responded by firing at the man, causing him to escape. He was quickly located and detained soon after. The media subsequently revealed that the man was Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old American residing in Kaʻaʻawa, Hawaii, originally from North Carolina.

Despite Routh being swiftly banned from social media platforms after his name became public, some remnants of him online persist, such as the footage where he attempted to give controversial YouTube personality JiDion a pamphlet while ranting about various subjects. In an old video that surfaced later, JiDion can be heard refusing the paper repeatedly with a mocking tone. The YouTube star confirmed to DramaAlert that he recalls this interaction in a statement.

JiDion Told Trump Assassination Attempt Suspect He’s a Call of Duty ‘Veteran’

The information in the pamphlet that Routh wanted JiDion to agree with was confusing. Towards the end of the video, the YouTuber jokingly claimed he was an expert on the old Nuketown map from Call of Duty multiplayer games. This reference went over Routh’s head, who then stated that he believes it’s more important to stand up against powerful forces. Earlier in the discussion, the man suspected of attempting to assassinate Trump had expressed his belief that Ukrainians should defend themselves.

One of the current theories about Routh’s motivation for attempting to assassinate Trump has to do with his strong support for Ukraine to win its defensive war against Russia. This is something that the former US President doesn’t agree with, as he has repeatedly emphasized he wants to end the war quickly—which would ostensibly require a settlement—rather than advocating for a decisive Ukrainian victory. CNN reported that Routh went as far as to contact Ukraine’s foreign legion multiple times but was never part of its forces. In the days leading up to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Routh tweeted dozens of times, writing, among other things, that he’s “ready to go to Ukraine and fight and die.”

In a newly released JiDion video, Routh is overheard stating that he’s searching for individuals who are willing to instigate change, or revolutionaries, and those who desire to bring down the existing system altogether. At this point, there’s no evidence suggesting that the foiled assassination attempt will impact the timeline of Trump’s ongoing U.S. presidential campaign.
