Try These Epic Dark Souls Builds to Dominate Your Next Game!

In simpler terms, the game titled “Dark Souls” is a wide-ranging action RPG that offers numerous character stats and equipment options, leading to a high degree of build diversity. Unfortunately, once you’ve chosen a character build in “Dark Souls“, there’s no way to reassign those attributes, which means players who decide to change their strategy mid-game often find themselves stuck with their initial choices.

Having the game well-prepared beforehand can be quite beneficial, particularly for seasoned players who have previously navigated the enchanting labyrinth of ‘Dark Souls’. They’re geared up and eager to embark on another journey with an enhanced character build. While numerous guides offer advice on crafting a flawless ‘Dark Souls’ character, this list intends to provide players with general build concepts without diminishing the excitement of creating their own unique character. It is essential to note that these builds are designed for players revisiting ‘Dark Souls’, specifically those aiming to conquer it, rather than those focusing on excelling in the game’s Player versus Player (PvP), which necessitates a distinct approach.

7. The Dark Sorcerer

A Strong Magic Build To Decimate Enemies

In the world of Dark Souls, magic and sorcery are exceptionally strong, which can make a build centered around being a Dark Sorcerer quite formidable, even to the point of appearing overpowered. By utilizing the Tin Crystallization Catalyst along with the Crown of Dusk, and equipping the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring, players will gain a significant edge in combat, swiftly vanquishing their foes before they can react.

For this character setup, aim for roughly 50 Intelligence and 18 Attunement as optimal stats. But don’t worry if you’re still early in the game; you can get by quite well with lower stat levels in most situations.

6. GiantDad

A Legend In The Dark Souls Universe

In the universe of Dark Souls, the GiantDad build is renowned and instantly recognizable. It primarily utilizes 75% of the Giant’s Armor collection, but swaps out the Giant’s helmet for the Mask of the Father to create its unique and iconic appearance.

Pairing the Zweihänder, Havel’s Ring, and Ring of Favor with your armor setup is a smart move, as these items lessen the burden of the heavy armor. Aim for 45 Strength and 28 Vitality for optimal performance in this build.

5. The Black Knight

An Early-Game Build That’s Very Powerful

This construction primarily needs the Black Knight Halberd, a renowned weapon among speed-runners in Dark Souls. Regrettably, it has a low drop rate after players defeat a Black Knight armed with one (you’ll find one in the Darkroot Basin and another in the Tomb of Giants). Acquiring the Black Knight Halberd from the Darkroot Basin can provide a significant early-game advantage due to its high base damage. Although it doesn’t scale as effectively as other halberds, this weapon inflicts an additional 20% damage on demons and can support players comfortably until the late game with the appropriate build.

Using the Halberd is convenient because it only requires Strength and Dexterity, but boosting your Endurance is advisable to enhance your stamina, since the Halberd is a rather heavy weapon. To wield the Black Knight Halberd, you’ll need 32 Strength and 18 Dexterity. It’s wise to focus on these stats from the start if you aim to get it. Since other weapons also scale with Strength and Dexterity, you can easily switch strategies if you don’t acquire the Halberd drop.

4. Full Havel

An Impenetrable Build With Tons Of Poise

This character development emphasizes crafting a robust, heavily armored figure proficient in handling both a massive shield and an immense two-handed sword known as an “Ultra Greatsword”. Since it requires some time to develop this character, it won’t necessarily simplify the early stages of gameplay. However, by the point players reach Anor Londo, this build should be well on its way to becoming incredibly potent.

Players should concentrate on acquiring items that boost their carrying capacity or Equip Load, such as the Ring of Favor and Protection (obtainable by defeating Lautrec), Havel’s Ring (which can be obtained after defeating Havel, but players must have either the Master Key or the Watchtower Basement Key to access this fight), or the Mask of the Father. However, it is worth noting that players could make use of all three items, although the Mask of the Father offers limited defense and takes up two ring slots, which might not be the most efficient build in terms of gameplay optimization – but it can certainly add some fun elements to their character!

In this game setup, players need to enhance their Strength and Endurance attributes first, allowing room for additional development in areas like Dexterity and Vitality later on. However, it is strongly suggested to prioritize pushing Strength above 40 as quickly as possible. Additionally, players should aim to obtain and upgrade an Ultra Greatsword, like the Zweihander, and a Greatshield, such as the Greatshield of Artorias. To complete the build, players need to acquire Havel’s armor, which can be found in Anor Londo. To get there, head to the basement of the main building by locating a suspicious fireplace on your way to Gwynevere on the main floor. Behind the fireplace is an illusory wall leading to the basement, where you will discover several chests containing Havel’s armor and other items. Keep in mind that one of these chests might be a Mimic.

3. Ninja

A Dexterity-Heavy Build For Players Looking To Be Swift

As a dedicated fan, I’d like to share my preferred build strategy: It prioritizes agility, gathering essential items early on that significantly boost damage output in the long run. The swiftness of your journey is crucial here, and reaching the Darkroot Garden as quickly as possible is key. Once there, joining the Forest Hunter Covenant becomes a priority, allowing you to encounter Shiva of the East before eliminating them for the coveted Murakumo.

For individuals intending to adopt this build, it’s crucial to elevate their Strength stat to 21. This is essential to wield the Murakumo two-handed. Any additional points in Strength beyond 21 would be unnecessary, as the weapon doesn’t significantly improve with further Strength enhancements. Once Strength is at 21, players can primarily focus on increasing their Dexterity level. Items beneficial for this build include Havel’s Ring to mitigate the Murakumo’s weight, and the Dark Wood Grain Ring, which enhances the player’s dodge roll and further reduces the weight of the Murakumo, serving as a substitute for a shield.

2. Lightning Zealot

A Classic Combination Of Swords And Spells

Ideal for gamers who cherish the traditional combat of a sword-and-shield game and appreciate potent magical spells, this build is tailor-made for them. To optimize this build, players should opt for the Master Key, allowing them to enter the Valley of Drakes promptly and retrieve Astora’s Straight Sword; be cautious as wielding this sword summons an Undead Dragon, so avoid dying if possible and aim to secure the Dragon Crest Shield on your departure. To excel in this build, select the Cleric class and concentrate primarily on enhancing the Faith stat, with a touch of Dexterity early on to handle Astora’s Straight Sword (14 Faith and 10 Dexterity are required). Achieve 20 Faith for the Lightning Spear, an essential component to this powerful initial strategy, by joining the Warrior of Sunlight Covenant (pray at the Broken Altar beside the Sunlight Altar bonfire in the Undead Parish) which necessitates a Faith level of 25.

One challenge in completing this build is that you need a hard-to-find item called Twinkling Titanite for upgrading Astora’s Straight Sword, making it somewhat tricky to optimize the build. The cherry on top for this build is the Crown of Dusk, which can be found in Darkroot Basin. To get the Crown, you must first defeat the Hydra, then either restart the game or leave and re-enter the area to spawn the Golden Crystal Golem. Defeating the Golem will summon Dusk of Oolacile; once she’s been summoned, head back to where the Golden Crystal Golem was, and there you should find the Crown of Dusk (along with the rest of her armor set).

1. Pyro Swordsman

The Power Of Fire Is Unmatched

In the game Dark Souls, it’s generally agreed that pyromancy is one of the most potent forces. This is particularly true in the original version, as the Pyromancy Flame and spells remain robust throughout most stages of the game, except against enemies resistant to fire. For those aiming to maximize their power, choosing the Pyromancer class is advisable. Additionally, obtaining the Master Key is crucial, and grabbing the Claymore on the bridge guarded by the Red Drake will serve as your secondary weapon. With the Pyromancy Flame as your primary tool, which you’ll start with when choosing the Pyromancer Class, you’ll be well-equipped to tackle challenges in the game.

Players should aim to enhance both their Strength and Dexterity to a sufficient level so they can effectively wield the Claymore. Additionally, they need to obtain the Residence Key from the Undead Merchant, which allows them to liberate the merchant and proceed into the Depths to free Laurentius of the Great Swamp. Subsequently, they should follow the instructions provided earlier to eliminate the Hydra, Golden Crystal Golem, and summon Dusk of Oolacile to acquire the Crown of Dusk. The remainder of this strategy hinges on accumulating a substantial number of Souls to buy the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring and maximally level up the Pyromancy Flame. Once they’ve boosted their Pyromancy Flame to +10, they should visit Quelana of Izalith in Blighttown, where she can enhance the Pyromancy Flame to +15. In Blighttown, players can defeat Qualaag and ring the Bell, descending into the adjoining room and breaking through an illusory wall to converse with her sister and join the Chaos Servant Covenant, granting them the Great Chaos Fireball. After this, players can continue in Blighttown to farm green slugs for Green Titanite Shards, which will help them upgrade their Claymore into a Fire Claymore, ideally to +5, at Blacksmith Vamos in the Catacombs.
