Saber Interactive has announced that Turok: Origins will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2. The game is scheduled to launch in Fall 2026 and will be released on the new Nintendo console, as well as PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
I was stoked to see Saber Interactive announce Turok: Origins at The Game Awards! It’s been ages since a proper Turok game – the last one was the reboot back in 2008. We’ve gotten a few remasters and that Turok: Escape from Lost Valley game a few years back, which was pretty different, being an isometric title. Honestly, it’s been way too long since we’ve had a full-on Turok experience, and Turok: Origins is already looking promising!
Turok: Origins is Officially Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
The latest Nintendo Direct revealed that Turok: Origins is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, and a new gameplay trailer was shown. Originally, the game was only planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, but now Switch 2 owners will be able to play it when it releases in Fall 2026. It’s great to see Turok return to Nintendo consoles, as the first games in the series were originally exclusive to the N64 and Game Boy Color.
The gameplay trailer for Turok looks fantastic, showcasing exciting fights against various dangerous creatures. The game uniquely switches between first-person and third-person views during combat, which should make for a dynamic experience, especially given the fast-paced action. Turok: Origins will offer both single-player and multiplayer modes, though you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play online. Based on the footage, the game looks great on the Nintendo Switch 2. This highlights the significant graphical improvements the new console offers over the original Switch, and we’re seeing more and more games take advantage of these capabilities.
The recent Nintendo Direct showcased a lot of exciting news about upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch 2, with strong support from third-party developers. We can look forward to titles like Fallout 4, Oblivion Remastered, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, among others. It’s clear Nintendo has been focusing more on attracting these developers over the past year, which is great news for players – meaning more of the games they love will be available on the Switch 2.
We haven’t heard much about Turok: Origins since it was first announced, but its appearance at the Nintendo Direct suggests we’ll soon get more details. Saber Interactive’s dinosaur-themed game is currently scheduled for release in Fall 2026, and hopefully, a specific release date will be announced soon.
