Two Months Later, Only 10,000 Escape from Tarkov Players Have Finished the Game

Escape from Tarkov officially launched as a complete game two months ago with the release of version 1.0. This was a huge achievement for the development team – the director even called it a career highlight! The 1.0 release added a final objective to the game, unlocked by completing a brand new campaign.

Currently, only about 10,489 players have finished the game. While the exact number of Escape from Tarkov players is unknown, Steam usually shows around 25,000 playing at the same time, and that’s just a small fraction of the total player base.

How Many People Have Completed Escape from Tarkov?

I was so excited to see a post from Nikita Buyanov, the head of Battlestate Games! He announced that over 10,489 players have actually managed to escape from Tarkov! Ever since Escape from Tarkov officially launched with version 1.0 back in November, escaping has been the goal for all of us fans, but honestly, it’s proven to be one of the hardest things to achieve in any game like this.

Reaching the end of the game requires finishing a full campaign of challenging quests. After that, players must complete a difficult final challenge called the ‘gauntlet’ on the new Terminal map. This final mission is considered by many to be the hardest thing players have ever encountered in Escape from Tarkov.

To make things even harder, players have to rush to get on a boat to escape. However, depending on how many people are in their group, not everyone might get a seat. This means one or two players could end up back at the beginning, having to try the final challenge all over again.

It took Tigz, the first player to achieve it, two weeks to successfully complete an escape from Tarkov. He did so while live streaming, and Battlestate Games staff, including Buyanov, were among those watching.

While many people play Escape from Tarkov, only 10,489 users represent a small fraction of the game’s total player base, which is estimated to be in the millions. Nikita recently shared that around 45,000 players were engaged in player-versus-player (PvP) combat on a typical Sunday evening in August 2025.

This number doesn’t include players focused on PvE content, which likely adds another 30,000 to 40,000 players (based on estimates from Nikita). That means around 100,000 players were actively playing Tarkov on a Sunday evening. If we estimate that only 10% of those players finished the game after having the chance, that’s still a significant number.

We can safely say very few Tarkov players have managed to accomplish the ultimate goal.
