Two New Far Cry Games and Several Assassin’s Creed Titles Are Officially in Development

As a big Ubisoft fan, I was really happy to hear from Yves Guillemot that they’re working on not one, but two new Far Cry games! And that’s not all – they’ve got several Assassin’s Creed titles in the works too, which is awesome. It’s been a bit of a rocky year for the studio with some projects getting cancelled, but it’s such a relief to know that both Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed are still going strong. Apparently, the new Assassin’s Creed games will have both single-player stories and multiplayer options, which sounds really exciting!

Ubisoft, a major video game company, has faced some challenges recently. They’ve cancelled several eagerly awaited games and reduced their workforce across multiple studios, along with making significant changes to how they run things. In January, news surfaced that Ubisoft had cancelled the planned remake of Prince of Persia, as well as several other projects. While two of the cancelled games were new Assassin’s Creed titles, the company seems to be focusing more on its most popular franchises like Rainbow Six, Far Cry, and Assassin’s Creed.

Ubisoft Reveals Future Plans for Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed

With Ubisoft undergoing changes, fans are eager to learn about the future of popular franchises like Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed. In a recent interview with Variety, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot reassured everyone that both series are doing well, and that multiple new games are in development. He revealed that Ubisoft has “two very promising projects” underway for Far Cry, though he didn’t say when the next game will be officially announced. He also confirmed that “several” Assassin’s Creed titles are in the works, including both single-player and multiplayer options.

I’m really excited to hear more about what Vantage Studios is up to! It’s a new Ubisoft studio – they just launched it last year – and it’s totally focused on growing the franchises I love, like Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Apparently, it’s being run by Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes, and they’ve got teams working on all three games across a bunch of locations – Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia. It sounds like they’ve brought together a huge team of talented developers from all over the world, which is awesome!

Ubisoft released the newest Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, in March 2025. While not officially announced, many leaks strongly suggest that Ubisoft is also developing a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. Recent company changes reportedly pushed back the remake’s release, but an industry source now indicates we might see an official announcement in April.

In 2022, the team behind Assassin’s Creed shared their plans for the future of the series. Following the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows last year, the next major installment, currently known as Codename Hexe, is expected to be a darker, more realistic game featuring a witch-themed story.

Ubisoft hasn’t shared many details about the future of the Far Cry series beyond updates to existing games. However, a recent statement from Guillemot matches a 2024 leak suggesting the studio is developing both a new main Far Cry 7 game and a separate multiplayer title. These games were initially expected in 2026, but recent company changes and project cancellations might have pushed back their release dates.
