Ubisoft Mandating 3 Days In Office For All Employees

As a seasoned gamer who’s been working from home for years now, I must say Ubisoft’s new mandate has left me scratching my head. Don’t get me wrong; I love the camaraderie of LAN parties and gaming marathons. But three days in the office? That’s like asking a cat to live in a fishbowl!

Ubisoft has informed its entire workforce about a fresh policy that requests team members to come into the office for at least three days each week. This update was shared through an email sent out by the company’s Chief Studios and Portfolio Officer, Marie-Sophie de Waubert.

As a devoted follower of developments, I’ve learned from VentureBeat’s latest report that the company is enforcing a three-day on-site policy, aimed at boosting creativity and camaraderie among the team.

Ubisoft has announced that, starting now, it’s requiring a third of its global workforce to spend three days each week in the office. However, there may be exceptions for employees based on their location and whether they need to relocate closer to an office due to current high housing prices.

What Ubisoft Said To Employees

In her email to Ubisoft’s team, de Waubert emphasized the importance of face-to-face interactions for fostering creativity. She explained that being together in person not only enhances problem-solving and decision-making abilities but also aids in learning from one another, especially in an industry that is constantly changing. This is particularly crucial for newcomers who need to familiarize themselves with our tools and work methods.

Despite reinstating a three-day work schedule, Ubisoft has stated that they will not be reverting to a standard five-day work week. Notably, companies such as Amazon, Dell, AT&T, among others, have recently mandated their employees to return to the office.

There is no set date for when the mandate will go into effect.
