Ubisoft Moves To ‘Creative Houses’ Model As Part Of Tencent Deal

Ubisoft delayed releasing its financial results for the first half of the 2025-26 fiscal year and paused stock trading on November 13th. This initially worried some gamers who thought a $1.3 billion deal with Tencent might have failed. However, Ubisoft has now released its financial report, and the deal with Tencent has gone through as planned.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced changes to how it operates, deciding to concentrate on a smaller number of key franchises. As part of this, they’ve created a new studio called Vantage Studios, led by Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot. Vantage Studios will focus specifically on developing new games and content for three of Ubisoft’s biggest titles: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Ubisoft plans to establish more studios like this in the future, each dedicated to specific franchises.

Ubisoft Will Unveil Full Details Of New Operating Model In January

After a difficult 2024 with significant losses, Ubisoft’s recently released financial report suggests the company is starting to recover and move towards improvement.

Second quarter net bookings were better than expected, totaling €490.8 million, compared to the anticipated €450 million. This represents a 39% increase compared to the same period last year. Stronger-than-expected collaborations and a healthy library of existing content fueled this success, demonstrating the strength of our brands.

Thanks to a $1.3 billion investment from Tencent, strong second-quarter financial results, and a promising lineup of games, Ubisoft is seeing a turnaround—though it required significant cost reductions to reach this point.

As of the end of September 2025, Ubisoft had 17,097 employees worldwide. This reflects a reduction of about 1,500 positions over the last year, and 700 since March 2025. We’ve recently announced a voluntary leave program and a restructuring plan for our studios in the Nordic region.

The company’s reorganization is currently on track, but it’s still in progress. Ubisoft plans to share complete information about how the new structure will work in January.

By the end of the year, the Group plans to complete the design of a new way of working, organized around independent teams called Creative Houses. These teams are intended to foster more innovative ideas, improve concentration, work more efficiently, and increase responsibility and results.

Tencent now has a 26.32% ownership stake in Vantage Studios, but Ubisoft will continue to fully control and manage the studio.
